I’ve caught a few episodes of the new TBS series, “The Wedding Band”. As far as TV sitcoms go, it’s pretty good, better than most out there. But for the “guitar/gear porn” aspects of the show, it’s tops! Every episode features the band playing choice guitars and basses…enough to make most of us here drool. They also do fun, unexpected covers of many popular songs.

Of course, one has to wonder how a mere wedding band could afford such an arsenal of axes; in the premiere episode you learn the bass player had been a studio musician for several top named bands and has quite a collection of musical equipment from his days with the pros. The guy they have “playing” as the lead guitarist just doesn’t seem to me to be a real player, but the other cast members appear to be real musicians. The lead character is played by Brian Austin Green who I believe is an actual singer/musician.

All in all it worth taking a look at just for fun. And if you’re like me, you’ll be more entertained by seeing what guitars they’ll be using next.

I watched 7 seconds.

So the point of the show is that the bride and all the other women at the reception always make eyes at Brian Austin Green due to his cuteness?

Okay, the show ain't as funny as "The Office", but it's fun to watch for the "guitar/gear porn", if anything. And it beats the hell outta most reality shows on TV. Some of the episodes have been pretty good, and they do do (I just said "do do"...lol) some fun covers of songs.

And, besides, there ain't much else to watch on Saturday night with basic cable! Plus, it's the only show on basic cable (regular TV) that I’ve ever seen where the main character smokes pot unapologetically.

I didn't make it past the minute mark. I have not watched TV for years. It is all Matrix programming. The camera angles and general hamminess of it all reminds me of why I dropped the toxic TV habit yeas ago. I can go to Sweetwater for my gear porn. TV programming just reminds me that we get the government we deserve.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled "programming".

They cancelled the show. It won't be back from a second season.
