All the best to you - and keep stay clear of those floods! (I just got back from the West Country. Yikes!)

I spent the day a couple of days ago moving furniture out of one of our pubs to higher ground to minimise the damage! At least we knew it was coming!

Watching those videos is like watching a mathematician write the shopping list.

When's this ale meeting? might I gatecrash?

Best -

Nutter (slightly past mid 20s but if I sleep well before we meet you might not notice)

I'm sure you would be most welcome! However maybe I should hold back the invite so you truly can gatecrash, because thats rock and roll baby! 8)

Anyway to try and stay on topic I'm going to leave this thread with a quote from one of my favourite guitarists, John Frusciante, and it sums up my general attitude to playing, not just this girl.

Quote:
People believe that by playing faster and creating new playing techniques you can progress forward, but then they realize that emotionally they don't progress at all. They transmit nothing to the people listening.

However like I said before I'm not knocking her talent, she obviously has more of it in one of her fingers than I do in my whole body when it comes to guitar!

I'm not a huge fan of shredding; however, I like the boogie-blues/rock rhythm of the song.

The lady can obviously play (and play well); I would like to hear a bit more soul and swing versus the technique and tapping. The whole thing reminded me of a overly clean (almost sterile) Van Halen song...I don't mean that as an insult, even though it may sound that way.
Someone mentioned some Billy Gibbons influences; I can see that in the rhythm parts of the song, and add this observation--maybe a touch of Leslie West, too? I don't mean "that sounds like a ZZ/Mountain song," I mean that there are touches of those influences there (kinda like the Billy Gibbons influences you hear on early Van Halen recordings).

Not necessarily my cup of tea, but she's got chops and talent, that's for sure.

And by the way, she's a beautiful girl...there isn't anything wrong with her using those "gifts" to promote her career...she wasn't immodest or overtly sexual in her presentation, just a confident, attractive woman who obviously worked hard to be a good musician (it doesn't matter how pretty she is, nobody plays like that without putting some hours into rehearsal and study.

If she wasn't a mighty fine looking female, this thread would not exist as she sounds like a student trying to emulate the Satriani ilk.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.
