I saw that and in a way was intrigued, or confused, but it's different. It's like a mix of metal, and classical.

I made a comment to a co-worker who also plays and I said I think she is more interested in showing off to other guitar players rather than creating music for those listening.

I like her better with Zepparella.

i wouldn't say she interested in showing off rather then she wanted to do something differeant then zepparella
i really like her instrumental stuff

I wish I had her talent. I do not think I would buy her music.

Shes got buckets of talent for sure, but it just doesn't do it for me. When I listen to music like this I feel nothing.

But the girl can sure shred!

Snowjoe, we have the same avatar - are you sure you're not me? If you'd like to take over writing my posts for me there likely won't be much difference!

For my thoughts... see above. :D

Ceri I fear our avatar is as close as we get! If I could put a point across half as eloquently as you can I would be ecstatic. However you do seem a man who appreciates a fine ale so next time I'm in your area if you can tolerate the ramblings of a man in his mid 20's I'd love to buy you an ale some day! That also goes to any forumite who happens to be in the area!

Snowjoe, I like your style and I'd be happy to put my name to any of your posts. It's a pleasure to share an avatar with you, and it would be a greater pleasure to share that beer! We can certainly russle up one or two other Forum users for the occasion too, if that seems like fun. When the time comes, gissa shout.

All the best to you - and keep stay clear of those floods! (I just got back from the West Country. Yikes!)

Cheers - C

Guys, I may have to change my avatar now.
Watching those videos is like watching a mathematician write the shopping list.

When's this ale meeting? might I gatecrash?

Best -

Nutter (slightly past mid 20s but if I sleep well before we meet you might not notice)

Female Satch. Technical player with strong classical training. I though she carried the melody well and had entertaining riffs. I liked how clean she played. I know it seems emotionless to some, but she is pushing the boundaries from a classical perspective and there is feeling in it. I bet she can rip some blues from the heart as well. She is better than I am at that style for sure. I always wanted to be better at classical modal soloing and playing. It can get real harry quick if you're not good. I use some notes out of Dorian, Aeolian, and others with underlying maj/min pentatonics. But I don't build melodies with them. In a way it's hard to get excited about it when Satriani and others have already done it so well. Respect to her. Maybe she will bring something new to it.

It's Gretchen Menn... she does a great job of marketing herself.

She's a good player... but after 4 years formal training, playing classical and earning a degree in Music, one would expect that she'd be.

I'm not knocking her, she plays great... But having Playmate Looks is certainly advancing her career... A LOT !! (I want the upper cutaway's job .. !!)

If I had to fault her, it would be that she's too perfect... a real lack of Spontaneity.

She seems to Play as opposed to Feel...

IMHO, Joni Mitchell, Joan Jett, Bonnie Raitt, Rory Block, Susan Tedeschi, Joanna Connor, Lennie Stern, Deborah Coleman, Lita Ford, Nancy Wilson, Jennifer Batten, Kelley Deal, Carrie Brownstein, Ruyter Suys, Orianthi, Rosetta Tharpe, Kelly Rosenthal, even our very own Rebecca aka - texasguitarslinger, all rank higher on the All-Time list of Guitar Chicks than Gretchen currently does.

Face it... her main Claim-to-Fame, is performing in a Zep Tribune Band. As laudible as that may be, she still needs to establish herself... develop her own unique sound.

Not knocking her... if she stays with it, she can easily move up the pecking order, but it's waay too soon to be throwing Babys in the air...

Only Time will tell...

cheers!

Stu Hamm on bass, so she must be special!
She's got a great chunky rhythm tone. Nice and thick.
I like it. Plus she's pretty to top it off.
