Do what the folks at Jagex did, they have 2 different levels of moderators for the forums and games, Jagex Employee Mods, and Player/Forum Mods. I think the system would work if you got the right people to do the job.

The thing is you have to bare in mind that this forum is directly involved with a global corporation, not a fan site or enthusiast forum set up with no relation to a company. They can't afford to be giving power to people they don't actually know on the basis that they appear trustworthy and proper online. I'm not for a second accusing anyone of this but it is very very easy to manipulate and put over a different persona to what you actually are online.

Jagex is a large corporation, not just a fan site. They give power to the people, because they sure as hell can't manage a game with 1,000,000+ users on their own.

With all due respect Buxom.. to Brad you are a random 16-year old kid. He's politely given you the straight reason. No need to push the issue.

Continuing to push the issue is enough of a reason to say "thanks, but no thanks". Brad should do what he feels is best for Fender first and the forum second.

I know what you're saying, however Jagex (who I've never heard of by the way) is a totally different kettle of fish to Fender, who is known world-wide by anyone who knows about music, has seen a music video or even knows a slight bit about the history of guitar. It truly is a household name. They can't afford to be appointing people they cannot vouch for in real life to control their forums.

I understand completely where Brad is coming from...

Personally, I would have grave misgivings in appointing a Moderator who actually wanted to be a Moderator...

That's the stuff of Mall Security... !! :P :P :P

NO FENDER NAZIS.. !!

cheers!

Funny you should say that, most forums I've been on run a policy of if you ask to become a moderator then you definitely will not be a moderator!

As a Battlefield 3 online player I have to say that I have seen what happens when Corporations give their users/customers the control of their product. Large numbers of Battlefield Admins are generally cu... you know what? This is a family friendly forum, I am not going to finish that word. So I have to agree with Brad and Ceri on this one even though I don't think that you are a cun... no no this is supposed to be family friendly.

LOL! It took me a while but I get it now. Thanks, Snowjoe. Sometimes it's hard to read the "sarcy" between the lines. :)

Trust me. Brad knows exactly what I was talking about.

Just searched 'Firestorm' and saw the 436 post, 24 page thread which was before my time...

All I can say is Pious Feces !!

It's a wonder Hitmen weren't employed...

Moderators are like police, you're happy they're around until you're the one getting pulled over. Not everyone will be happy about decisions that need to be made and actions that have to be taken.

Good luck Brad and Rob.

That's really, really well stated, right there. Light moderation is where it's at, but it's been too light of late and that's what I'm acknowledging and which we're adjusting here. Anyway, just to put the other topic to rest: I'm not saying you necessarily need to be a Fender employee to moderate here, but ... unless I (a) know you personally (as in, in person) and (b) speak to you on a daily basis (as in, in person) it'll truthfully be unlikely to be considered for moderation duties here. Oh, and the other requirement is that (c) I must hold tremendous respect for you on both a professional and personal level. Mr. Schwarz makes the cut!! :-)

FWIW, I've never called the police and I'm never happy to have them around. That being said this forum is property of Fender and what they do with it, and how they do it is their business. I think this place runs pretty sweet and I also think Brad gives people a pretty wide berth when it comes to what they post most of the time. Especially as this is a corporate site.

Indeed. Definitely not a job I'd want. :?

Is the idea of a LOUNGE BASS also doable? I would be very likely get one.

Or do you have to draw the line somewhere? I understand that next might come posts requesting a Lounge FV3 modified Fiddle and a Lounge FB58 modded Banjo.

I've been telling my band we need a violinist. They never listen. :/
