Yesterday, Mr. Brown Pants dropped off one of these at my front door.

A month ago, I received a $25 OFF coupon (w/ no minimum purchase requirement) from a small music store as an apology for a screw-up they made to a previous order.

I had seen this box on their site and was intrigued by a couple features: A 40 pattern Drum FX with adjustable rythm (1-250 BPM) - makes playing scales a little less boring than just listening to the clave of a metronome, a chromatic tuner and the ability to use headphones instead of hooking up directly to my practice amp. Their price was $40 w/ free S/H. so my cost would be $15... I picked it up.

I must say it's a fairly impressive unit. It has 9 different EFX - Compressor, Auto-Wah, Booster Tremelo, phaser, Vox, Cry. 20 different OD models. 4 different Amp models. 9 different Modulation EFX incl. Chorus, Ensemble, Flanger, Step, Pitch Shift, Vibrato (all adjustable). 4 different, adjustable Delay models. 5 different Reverb models w/ adjustable Decay.

You can custom-create and store any combination of the above in one of 10 'patches', or dial-up one of 40 different pre-set artist model patches incl. Hendrix, Page, Beatles, Clapton, Queen, EVH, and so on.

It's hardly Roadworthy in it's plastic box, though one review I read said a guy's been gigging his for 5 years (they do have a more robust metal model - also more $$). It's almost toy-like, but packs a lot of options.

It comes ready with an AC adapter and has 2 accessories pedals which can be purchased separately.

As stated, my primary motivation was for the Drums, Tuner and portability (no Amp (headphones), easier than breaking out the pedal board), but this thing can really do a lot.

For me anyway, it was $15 well spent !

cheers!

I think George Lynch had one of these on his pedal board before they made his signature one. He said he used it for modulation and crazy sounds.

I have the zoom B1 bass pedal. It has a great Stanley Clarke tone I like. Having the drum machine with headphones is very cool for this bass player. I am getting ready to run the drum into my aux channel of my bronco or mustang and use it when I lay down a primary track. I might do it tonight and I might keep goofing off on this forum

Congrats. Zoom has always had a good idea how to make these things. I like their chorus and delay effects in particular.

I use an old Zoom 4040 multi effects
The only thing wrong with it is you can only use certain effects together comp/distortion/phase/delay/reverb all together are fine , but you can't combine 2 together like chorus and tremolo, or step and pitch shift .

So I connect the output of it (via a 1/4" to USB cable) into my laptop, then use Reaper to add any extra effects (basically as many as I want for free), then connect the headphone out of the laptop to my little amp and (using the noise reduction on the Zoom) get a really clear sound with as many effects as I want together (just because Reaper is a recording device, doesn't mean you can't use the effects on there with it armed for recording and on "standby")

I have the G1NeXT w/the built in pedal and (i think) more amp models.
use it when i'm "feelin' frisky"
good unit, no complaints, and some of the amp & OD models are really good!
a lot of fun to plug in to.....
