the shape/design of the knobs doesnt make it easy to pull them up for the coil tap. in fact you have to get your finger/fingernail under the knob to have any chance of pulling them up.

Hi moochy: you may find that the up-down action of the pot loosens a bit over time.

I've also a feeling you may find that after the excitement of that split coil feature dies down you don't use it so much. Single coil sounds are what Fenders are for: most of us love our Les Pauls for their full-on humbucker tones... 8)

Ultimately though, if it really is a long term problem you could always investigate a new and maybe better constructed pot with a smoother action. I don't know what sort of pots you have inside that guitar, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're something other than CTS? Undoing four screws on that control cavity cover will confirm or deny this...

Cheers - C

youre probably right, ive got 5 fenders to give me single coil sounds, im just nitpicking i suppose. the pots/switch feel fine, it is literally just too slippery too grab and pull up between your finger and thumb. just some grooves in the knob would have been enough. i might try and sneak some fender product onto my les paul................

i could always get some skull ones

Aparently these small elastic bands are available at Office World and the like, and fit speed knobs perfectly:

Or you could do a Dimebag Darrell. Personally I think this looks horrible, but I get why he did it. Works on your style of knobs too:

Get grippy, man! :D

There are most definitely Epiphones made in Indonesia,I have an 08 Casino and a John Lennon EJ-160-E that were made there.

Congrats on your cool purchases,I have an Epi L.P. Trad Pro with coil tap that my Missus gave me a couple of Christmases ago and it's an incredible guitar. The best Les Paul that I ever played bar none and that includes Gibson's,was a 1959 Tribute. That guitar was just beyond belief but unfortunately where I had already bought a couple of guitars and 3 amps already that year,I had to let it pass.
