Hey there,

I really like the sound of EC, especially in Layla (Link)

But what do I do to get that type of sound on a budget? Let's say a budget of maybe 900$. What amp/pedals will get me the closest? No guitar included.

Sorry if this question have been up before, but I couldn't find anything in my 10 seconds of searching. :)

Cheers,

Clapton recorded Layla using a tweed Fender Champ.. so why not get the real thing? :D 5F1 tweeds pop up all the time on the 'bay and can be had for around a grand.

No pedals required.. just crank her and enjoy.

Hi Johan: Toronado's suggestion is good. Though if that exceeds your budget then the massive FX rig Clapton's been using for the last couple of decades definitely will as well!

But by the sound of it help is on hand: just the other day Forum user Minnesotastrats posted about his new DigiTech Crossroads pedal. Might be just the thing to get you close to a flock of Clapton sounds at an affordable price. Check this out:

Any use?

Yeah, that would be nice. However, Sweden hasn't got a very big market for used music gear, so I guess it sould be kinda difficult. And I guess my parents and neighbours wouldn't be happy with me cranking it. ;)

I looked it up on youtube, sounded alright. The acoustic simulator wasn't much though.
But would like a Bl Jr and some kind of fancy pedal in front of it get me anywhere close?

The ZOOM FX Pedal I just got has an Eric Clapton 'Layla' model in it's pre-sets and gives a good imitation of his sound. At around $40-$45 retail, it's a pretty cheap alternative.

See my thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=80791

cheers!

Ah I see. In fact we have 2(!) Zoom multi fx units in our rehearsal room (is that what you call it? lol) but wasn't thinking of it. Will check it out. :)
