My girlfriend and I tried out a guitarist last night and oddly enough, this was the first time in many years I played in a situation with the amps and guitars all Fender. I had a Precision Bass Lyte through my Rumble 350 combo and he was playing a Strat through a Hot Rod Series Deluxe combo.

Keith was right when he said Fenders sound best through Fenders. He had one hell of a tone. Good player, too. Those Strats are pretty versatile. It gets the bass player's seal of approval. I'm happy to be finally jamming with a decent guitarist again.

yep, if you compare the entire Fender product line to the entire product line of any other guitar maker, Fender wins hands down every time (IMO).

I agree. We also have just got one of those Passport 500 P.A.s, but haven't utilized that yet to it's full potential. From what we did test it with was pretty nice. It seems to have some juice to it and it isn't that heavy. It's actually lighter than my amp and has 150 more watts to it.

It has been a long time since I've even played with a guitarist in a live situation, so hopefully he won't flake out and we would have to continue the eternal search for a new one.

Good luck with your new situation. I just did a gig in October forthe first time in years and it was a great experience and I am jonesing for more. I am a bass player and I was playing with a pianist and guitar player. No drummer.

I was using my bronco. It is on stage with the speaker hidden by my music stand. The line out to the PA gave me all the sound I needed. It was my first, and so far last, gig with it. A light reverb/echo mix gave me an awesome tone. I used a bassman TV preset.

That's my Tele behind the guitar player, on his acoustic Gretsch. He used my Mustang 1 also.

Thanks. Actually, the situation isn't new, just the guitar player is. We've been together for almost ten years, which is really strange when I think about it. Time flies, when you're not paying attention to it.

That's cool that you've done a gig, too. We've played one in NYC last December and we got a bunch of stuff lined up in the next couple of months, so I'm looking forward to that. I think once the bug bites to play out, it's hard to shake it. Especially, if you have a good experience.

I've been curious about those two amps that you have. That's cool that the Bronco works for you. I'll bet it would make a good tool in the studio. How is the Mustang amp? I haven't really researched the pros and cons of it, yet. I should see what if anything is said in these forums. The problem with me is I'm a little wary of modeling technology with musical gear. You know, the more stuff you have to deal with, the more that could go wrong and break.

I love my Mustang1. It is light and perfect for jamming out in my room at anytime with good headphones. The experience of all the different sounds in headphones is an experience that keeps me saying wow. Perhaps I entertain too easily.
I have recently bought the SCX2 and love it for a more warmer tubey kind of Fender experience. I love the Fuse software, limitations and all. Its' capabilities for expansion and experimentation far exceed the limits.

My Bronco is also great for all kinds of bass aural experiences any time of day or location. The FX are great too, IMO. I use a very light reverb with a touch of echo, very low level and almost imperceptible repeat. The ambiance of it is magical. I set it up as a rack, post amp effect. No matter where I play, I can get an otherworldly effect that seems more tone than effect. I am able to put my Mustang, Bronco or SCX2 throught the rig below. The SCX2 sounds awesome powering the 4x8' cab by itself. Putting a line out of any of the amps into his beast gives me endless possibilities.

The separate volumes of the stereo power amp let me control each cab interdependently. I will add a stereo 9 position EQ for my rack when I can afford it.

I currently use this mixer to boost my Bronco signal. The line out needs a boost. I can also use the EQ to fine tune it, if I want. The rack EQ will eliminate the need for this mixer. Besides, until I get some gigs it is just sitting in my room.

Good talking gigs and gear with you.

Well, that sounds like a pretty cool set up you got there. If I ever get the chance to check these amps out, I should. I'm pretty happy with my Rumble 350, though. I've actually used the DI out for recording in the studio and it sounds really good. Better than it did when I was going direct. I can think of a use for that Bronco (the first signs of G.A.S. are probably those words  ) with either my tiny office area where I'll noodle around or compose, or I could utilise it's effects potential by using it with the Rumble. I guess that would be doing something similar to what you've got going on.

I've noticed those SCX2s. They remind me of (sans the effects) of the guitar amp I have. It's a 1982 Super Champ with the 150 watt upgraded speaker. I actually found a website dedicated to it and I learned a lot of info from that. It puts out some sound for 18 watts and it has a line out, which is handy, too. I use it on the occasion I play guitar and have played bass through it as well. It doesn't have a speaker out, though.

You know, I was also curious about those Seismic speakers. I came across their site a while back when I was looking to see if anyone still made 18" bass speaker cabs (Carvin seems to be the only one who does that I found). Their stuff is really inexpensive. They had a 2x15" cab for dirt cheap. I had the idea of added a powered 18" sub with the Rumble. I really don't need it, but it would really make it rumble! Ha! Then again, I might have been inspired by watching the Police in concert from back in the day on Youtube. Yeah, that's what I need, some 18" bass bins, a slew of 10"s and a fretless P-bass. :P The neighbours would probably enjoy that, I'm sure. I guess I'm always looking for different ideas for different sounds. Sometimes, that can be frustrating, especially if you're broke.

Good talking with you, too.
