Today,Nov. 27 is the 70th anniversary of Jimi's birth. The first time that I heard the Are You Experienced album I decided to get really serious and dedicated to guitar playing and regularly spent 10 hours plus a day practicing. It wasn't long when the guys who started when I did were left in my dust and I was gigging regularly by the time I was 15.I have spent over 40 years playing tributes to Jimi's songs and have painstakingly listened to and deconstructed most of his songs to try and nail every nuance of his playing and trying to decypher how he got every strange sound that he could coax from his guitar.Of course I could never hope to play as well as Jimi but I have succeeded in being able to knock off a reasonable facsimile,at least judging from the favourable responses I've gotten over the years,I must be doing something right. It was Jimi who showed me where to find the conduit that connected my soul to my hands and I will always love and be indebted to him for this alone.Happy 70th Jimi and thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

I wonder what Hendrix would be doing if still with us now.

I'd guess that he might be doing a tour with Clapton, Beck and Page.

Happy BDay Jimi.

Remembering Jimi on his 70th birthday is good. Listening to his musical gifts to us always brings a smile to my face. His music has stood the test of time and is as fresh today as when it was first played.

'i got a bad bad feeling, my baby don't live here no more... that's alright i still got my guitar, look out now'

biggest understatement in rock history.

had to spend yesterday afternoon jamming on my white strat in honour... before leaving the house to see my dad for a while as he also has his birthday on the 27th. while i celebrate with rory gallagher. we both rock.

Premier Guitar has a online gallery of some the most iconic guitars in rock history from the Experience Music Project located in Seattle WA. The EMP was created and funded by Paul Allen (Microsoft co-founder). Allan is also a lover of music.

The most iconic guitar there, IMO, is the white Strat Jimi played at Woodstock. Jimi had given the Strat to Mitch, he simply asked Jimi for it. Later Mitch sold it at an auction for $997,000, it was Allen who won the bid.

Here is a link to that white Strat in the gallery http://tinyurl.com/bqem7cy.

I've been to Seattle a few times to visit my brother, and everytime I've went over to EMP.
