My local fender stockist has recently decided not to stock Fender strings anymore, believing them to be useless-and of coarse, not U.S. made.

Opinions please

If you would rather use Fender strings like I do then find a store that sells them. I`m sure you could always find them online.

Sorry to hear that. My store also does not sell Fender strings. I have always used Ernie Ball myself.

I thought I read somewhere that D'Addarios are one of the few brands of strings made in the USA, though I may have misread it. D'Addarios have been my personal choice for about 20 years now.

I could be mistaken, but it's my understanding that there are really only a few string manufacturers and many different brands are actually made buy the same company.

I'm sure his Clientele appreciate the Isolationist aproach he takes to Instrument retail, but your music store guy probably has a much less Patriotic reason for not carrying Fender Srtings, like he can't pay the Fender Bill. If you like Bullet ends, Fender's the only choice. If he wants to do a Fender Lobatamy on his string section, he'll notice a marked reduction in Accessory Sales. He better start carrying Yu-Gi-Oh Cards to make up the difference.

Same here. I've used D'Addarios forever. I also like Ernie Ball & DR Strings. DR Strings are also made in the U.S.A.

but they seem to have lost their sound already.

How long should strings last?
I know there are numerable variables, but I play for about on average an hour a day
