Is anyone else having a problem with Photobucket today? I bought a new guitar and tried to upload photos at my office, and I can log on to the site but can't bring up my albums or upload anything. I press buttons and nothing happens.
I thought it might be a problem with my connection at work but I have the same thing at my home computer.
What alternatives are there to Photobucket?

I've been using PhotoBucket pretty heavily since I last got back onto these Forums. I just logged in and everything is working fine, but...

PB keeps pushing their NEW PB version. I signed on and converted everything to the new format and I hated it. The main difference seemed to be the way your pictures displayed - portions of them and not the whole thing. They were offering the option at the time to switch back and that's what I did, but I keep getting emails pushing their new version and frequent pop-ups on their site saying I should make the switch again.

I've got hundreds and hundreds of guitar, amp and other pics on that site... :?

Ha! CR, I agree with every word you wrote.

They switched me to the new beta version of the site automatically; I stumbled around for a while, got angry and so switched back, like you. At which point a dialog box opened asking if I'd be willing to do a customer satisfaction survey about their new site, to which I responded by clicking "you bet your backside I would!" But then the survey didn't show up - I've a feeling that by the power of ESP they guessed what I was going to tell them and decided they'd rather not hear it.

Huh.

To Drew365: several other photo hosting sites out there. Flickr is an obvious one that comes to mind...

Cheers - C

This totally sucks. I never had a problem with PB before yesterday, but I think they've lost me. As with Ceri, they switched me to the beta version of their new interface. I'm logged on, but I can't view my photos, can't upload, can't view my profile, even the Help button does nothing, and the highlighted line "switch me back to old version of PB" does nothing.
I was able to download the desktop uploader. That worked to upload files supposedly, but when I click the "view my albums" button, I'm back to the beta where nothing works and I can't see the photos I just uploaded.
I can't help but think that somewhere there's a bunch of guys having lunch together, telling each other what a great job they did on the new beta version.
I'm going to go seek out flickr now, but like CR, I had a lot of photos on PB, and I'm totally bummed out. Luckily I've got a new guitar to ease the pain. To bad I can't show it to you guys. :D

Thanks, Ceri.
Until I read your post I didn't know I could switch it back.

Done.

Well, for now... How long before they pull the plug on the old site? :?

And to Drew: if you can find PB's customer service I strongly suggest you talk to them. Sounds like you've got real problems that's not your fault.

Good luck - C

Test from Flickr:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/90173800@N07/8194181740/" title="Carvin CS424S - 1 by drew986, on Flickr"><img

I don't think I'm a complete idiot. Why is it so hard to find the img code on Flickr?

Maybe I am a complete idiot. Let's try this:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/90173800@N07/8194181740/

Well, that provided a link, but didn't embed it. I'm missing something.

I don't Facebook or Twitter. Do I have to have another account like these to embed photos? I think I'm going to go out and chop wood, get rid of some frustration. :x

One more test from Flickr:

I use Picturetrail myself.
The only complaint I have is that they only allow so many photos in any given album and make you start a new one after you reach that number... not a big deal though.
You just copy and paste the codes from the "image url's" tab.
They change the homepage around frequently, but it's easy to find what you're looking for.
Never had any trouble with them.

Just as an update, last night before I shut off the computer, I checked Photobucket again. All my photos showed up and the buttons all work again. Now I have an account on Flickr also, so I've got choices.

About a month ago, I switch to the new system, and hated it. I switched back within a couple of hours. I don't like the new edit system that's in the original version now either. I'm going to check out that imageshack.us for a possible alternative to PB.

Update. Using a different computer I got forwarded to the new beta version of Photobucket again, so this time I really made an effort to look around and see how it works. Several new features which are probably great for some people but of no use to me - which in itself is fine.

However. I've sussed the process for posting photos on forums and it really is tiresome and stupid, and since that's the only thing most of us here want it for it's a big pain in the backside. So I've switched back to the old site again. But this time not before using the "feedback" tab on the right of the beta site page to let them know what I think - which in itself is a roundabout procedure, because of course they don't really want to hear our views but just use that feedback function to channel us through a series of other people's answers to try and get rid of us that way.

Pah!

I hope they listen to feedback and amend their new site before dumping the old one. Or I'll be dumping them.

Cheers - C

I tried the mobile updates with Photobucket, but didn't
care for it. Now they send me weekly emails about what
I'm missing. I don't agree and have told them so.

I'll keep using Shutterfly for my good photos.
