I've been wondering does anyone know what ever happened to MTV? It used to play music vids; mostly rock. Now all they play on that channel is how to find a bisexual lover or be a skinny annorexic model. What's up with that?

There are certain hours of the day (or night) that they do play music videos.

Yeah, they're not real good if you are over 50 either.

VH1 is slightly better, but MTV plays pretty much no music anymore. It's all "reality" shows and rapping about the most pointless things.

I do agree that VH1 is slightly better because they do play some music. But on the other hand, they do still have a lot of stupid reality shows. One in particular, The Flavor of Love with a burnt-out crackhead rapper: YAY!!!

That's true, but thats probably the worst show on the channel. All of MTV is going downhill. Bisexual, Italian, and all other sorts of scripted reality shows.

This just goes along with TV in general. Too many of the shows that are on shouldn't be.

With the rise of YouTube and other video hosting sites, I just watch the videos I want to watch whenever I want. As far as MTV, I like watching Rob and Big. They're a trip. Also I like watching Fuse, especially "Later with Jools Holland". But that show disappeared last week from the line-up, and the website has no info. That was one of the few that I would record daily. Some great performances on there.

I can remember being pissed off when MTV broke from their 24/7 commercial free video format. I thought selling commercial time was a huge sellout. LOL...and I thought the commercials were bad. If I only knew how bad it would really get and videos would almost disappear completely. Ahhh....to be young and so idealogical again. I almost miss the rightgeous indignation.

If you're only 14 and think MTV sucks now, if you're 32 like me, you'd remember when MTV was actually pretty decent from the mid 80s to about the early 90s, and then you'd be even more pissed.

Hey Cryingstat..... do you remember what the first commercial was about?I did a google search but came up empty. If I remember it wasn't to different from a regular tv commercial....but that was a long time ago ... I may be mistaken.

I watch Rob and Big occasionally because it's quite funny. I don't get Fuse, but I've seen Jools Holland a few times and I liked it a lot. Usually some great performances on it.

Ya know, you made me curious so I spent the last half hour trying to find some sort of reference to the first commercial. Nada. Nothing. For some reason I find that strange. Anyway, I'm going to email MTV and see if someone there remembers.
