NGD on the way....

Got tired of waiting on this project. :?

Soooooo......with Father's Day on the threshold and owing myself a couple of past due on that as well as birthdays I just pulled the trigger on a new MIJ Fender Classic Series Bass VI 3-Tone SB out of The Music Zoo.[It might still be viewable on line]. It costs not much more than the Pawn Shop version and has the 'vibe' of the high end guitar. Paid for it through Pay/Pal/Bill Me Later...6 mos payout, no interest, no tax, free shipping. [A suggestion for Fender should this project bear fruit. ]

Anyone have any suggestions as to an amp which will best handle that axe as well as my Strats that isn't the size of the walls of my garage :?:

Sorry to hijack this thread, but we're not making any progress on the original intent as far as I'm concerned.

Ya'll can send me your suggestions via PM. That way I won't add insult to injury.

Thanks.

Doc

Congrats! A Bass VI is very high on my GAS list (whenever I become gainfully employed again :? )...

It was on mine, too. I'd been waiting on something different, too, which is why the Lounge Guitar in the Esquire format really appealed to me.

I spent some time pondering what the hell I really needed the Bass VI for [thinking about my age and likelihood of playing out.] So I did the math and with the reality of what I busted my hump all these years for in the mix, I jumped on it's bones. I've done business with The Music Zoo before. They relocated to a 45 min ride from my former location on Long Island and I've never had issues with them.

All things being equal, it's better to be able to look back on the satisfaction of what one did, rather than the disappointment of what one let slide when it could have been otherwise.

In your case, mate, you always have major mojo from me in your pursuits and I wish you a merry little Father's Day with all the trimmings. 8)

Doc

Congrats on the Bass! It's actually something I've been thinking of getting myself.

    Cheers!

Congrats Doc, happy fathers day and if you take a break from playing for a moment I'd love to see a pic of you with the new Fender!

I'm with you on that score. And the thing about it is ... GAS is fickle. GAS is not stable, predictable, consistent, faithfull, trustworthy, etc. If it takes too long the tendency is to lose interest and walk away. I know my eye has been wandering and with your imminent NGD your eye has clearly been wandering too. I'm actually a little surprised nobody has opted out of this project yet.

Perhaps people have opted out but have chosen not to make a public announcement.

I'm still sittin' on the river bank watching the river flow ... If the boat comes along and I'm still here and have the fare, maybe I'll hop on for a ride.

    Cheers!

I'm of first mind on the issue with respect to the 'why's' I supported the design I felt appropriate...an Esquire, with AW's and the Eldred wiring. The Bigsby was an added touch, but I could live without it. I'll go that route only. I can certainly have the Custom Shop build it for me. One of our number just had a guitar done with a custom decal on the 12th fret. I expect that they could prepare a design transfer with the Forum Logo for that spot, or elsewhere. However, I think it unlikely that I am going to set aside a percentage of the coin which could cover overseas travel, until my wife has exhausted herself with the world and its 7 wonders. Give recent wanderings, up and coming, and future planning in the works, I don't see that coming to pass any time soon. Got a year to brush up on my conversational French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Time frame might be the obvious "gonna be" (from the all inclusive many faceted question "what's it gonna be"). What I mean by that is Brad and Fender know that many of us will purchase an exclusive Forum special run guitar for members only, so, with the knowledge that Brad is filling in for a key member that has moved on as well as shouldering his lions share of responsibility for his department and we all know that from planning to manufacturing a model in real Fender time is years not months, we are going to get a Forum guitar "for us" by Fender, we should revisit our thread here to keep it in our minds because Fender has noted and is considering our desires about the guitar, patience is a virtue. When time is available to talk with us Fender will do just that. If you haven't started already, start saving for this guitar, lol. I think in a year maybe a little more, from now, we will all be playing our newest addition to the Fender family of electric guitars. For members only of course. :D

I surprise myself sometimes and wonder where posts that I post came from, like what part of my brain or if they came from an elbow, some other body part not near my head. Reading this one again, I'm thinking "no idea why I wrote this". I have no idea what is going on at Fender the company. Speculation, pure and simple, at best, is what this post was. I still like the Esquire or single pick-up Telecaster in agreement with Doc. I acknowledge that I will probably order it from the CS as well. Similarly to Doc I have a couple of other plans that get more expensive the longer I put them off so a little bit of focus will go a long way and by that time I'll be ready to take the Custom Shop more seriously.

And that's beautiful.

IMHO, by the time it happens they're gonna look like this and I don't exactly know how beautiful I'll be looking by then, if at all. :?

It's due for delivery on the 19th, and I've gotta hang around to sign for it. Likely will post it on my FB page first. Much easier than going through the cyber back alleyways to get it on here.

I am also sitting on the banks watching the river as it flows by. The longer I wait, the more I feel that this endeavor is a bust. I might as well quench my GAS hunger with something else. The 1 grand I have now is a good starting point to keep saving for a Custom Shop guitar I have always wanted to have built. At least it will be my design and specs to play with and not hope that what is to come will fulfill my ultimate GAS urge.

Yep ..... You see? Like I said, GAS is fickle. This was exactly the kind of thing that lead to the leadership folks at the that other board deciding on a guitar spec and then putting it out there for takers. They said this is what we're gonna make, take it or leave it. Here's the price. It may not have been very democratic but it got done. Of course, their situation was a little bit different from ours in that the board was (is) privately owned and also moderated by its own members. Also, the fact that they require a paid membership to post in the public lounge area means they have a lot fewer members without means and that changes their demographic a fair bit. (It was also the source of their biggest Achilles Heel; declining into a good-ole-boys-only club. If the preacher didn't like you, you were toast. Injustices abounded.) Fender's only publicly visible involvement in their project was to give a quote on the spec sheet and then build it when they were ready. There may have been other involvement behind closed doors but we never heard tell of it.
