Good question!

EC Red, EC Green, Aztec Gold, Silver Leaf or Taos Turquoise.

I've opened a thread about a Limited Edition EC Custom with that Ferrari SP12ECP finish but this project never came into fruition.

I believe that in the interest of Forum members who can't readily come up with large sums of money, the Forum Guitar should be at a price point that would make it feasable for as many members as possible to be able to buy one.The Forum Guitar could maybe sold as the 2004 50th Ann. Strats were with 3 levels of "trim" where there would be an "entry level" one in the same colour as the other levels but probably not with the same pups and/or hardware or even as an MIM or Squier model. The top level one could probably have Noiseless,Abby wound or some othertop shelf pups with gold plated hardware and the midrange have all the trimmings of the Standard US made Strats but probably with 57/62,Tex-Mex or some other non-standard pickup.

The issue with the above, again, is the need for simplification.

Sorry for the OT interruption, but I need to chime in because this is the second post I'm seeing where it looks like the poster has inserted a link to spam but I suspect this is not the case.

In guitslinger post, the word "buy" in "...as members as possible to be able to buy one." appeared as link when I first saw the post. I hovered over the link and it was an ad to some sort of contest. I don't believe this came from guitslinger. When I quoted the post, the word appears as normal text, without any hyperlink.

Has anyone else noticed such behavior? Could it be an invasion of some spam bot?

Cheers!
BM

EDIT: I just noticed the same behavior in my post on the word "behavior"

Hate to say it but that issue has been addressed a couple of pages back.

I'm not interested in one because I can't justify spending money on another Strat or Tele, when I've a Tele and two Strats that cover all those bases. I was so relieved to see someone say they wouldn't be looking for a $200 guitar. That is a nonsense, this is going to be a one off instrument, a never repeated opportunity. So let's do it on the cheap??? :? Don't make sense to me. If I were up for it, I'd be spec'ing the hell out of it and harvesting kidneys to sell on the black market to raise funds.
Ain't like you're going to get another chance.

In fact for the thing to have any collect-ability I think you're risking it with any less than American Deluxe sort of price range. I think it's pretty safe to say that with such little interest in the project on a forum with over half a million members, you're looking at Masterbuilt instruments. I really can't see Fender being bothered with logo embroidered cases and the like for any less. It's looking like the T-Shirt fiasco all over again from where I'm standing. Everyone has a look, not many are interested in putting hand in pocket.

I happen to be in a unique position, I could spend up to $1200 dollars for a Forum guitar. But some people cannot. I agree on a post earlier, let's see what the good guys at Fender can come up with. Whether it's a pick guard, neck plate, or guitar.

The 100% prepayment policy which would be required for this project precludes what happened with the T-Shirt project. However this is still not enough for FMIC to get things rolling. I think they need to see a greater interest before there is even an initial official meeting.

    Cheers!

I would be more likely to commit in the $500 to $1500 range if I knew what I was going to get. If there were 75 to 100 people on the list and all but 10 - 15 backed out because they didn't like the spec's, if the guitars were even made they would probably cost the remaining few more money. After a couple of months and 48 pages I don't believe there would ever be an agreement on color let a lone rosewood or maple.
Why not let everyone that wants to do this pick a production model of their choice, strat or tele and see if FMIC will do a custom one off paint job on them. Then do a decal on the head stock and custom neck plate. Just my nickel's worth.

Brad has already stated that anything we do here would be on a pre-order basis and it makes sense that this would entail either pre-payment or putting down a substantial deposit with the order. At this point no one has made any commitment.

The purpose of the price range list is to show our interest and how the specs - which have yet to be determined - may influence our decision to buy. Brad has told us that this roster is helpful and encouraged us to continue. At present there are nine members on the list. I'm thinking it's going to take a lot more - maybe 90 - before FMIC even agrees to consider the proposition in any official capacity.

If your upper range is $1,500 this means that you are willing to spend up to this amount but it depends on the specs and the specs will be weighing heavily. If your lower price is $500, then it means that you would most likely buy the guitar with little or no consideration to the specs just for the "Group Hug" and having something which is special, FSR, Limited Run.

    Cheers!

9 guitars, I thought at least 50 names would be on "the list" after one page. I'm still getting a Telecaster (the one I picked). It was fun yoda.

cheers

There's been much discussion and many great ideas. The original poll speaks to the fence sitting and waiting on the company. You have 103 who voted, 28% with a firm yes and 49% of whom are in the price dependent category. 9 committed to a price range. Certainly enough potential buyers if the price is right. I strongly feel that FMIC need to make a move.

"Sosa....Make a move!"
