I was not involved with either project. I don't know about Martian's guitar.

This is a logical conclusion given the choices of the poll, however I think that for many members the deciding factor may be specs and not price.

Speaking only for myself, I would be prepared to pay a little more for a FSR-FL than I would for a Standard or American Standard but only if the guitar chosen is a Strat and then only if the color and sound is different from any of my other Strats.

On the other hand there may be many members for who the FSR-FL distinction is sufficient so having two guitars with the same color or pups is not an issue.

If it's not too late or otherwise complicates matters, may I suggest the poll choices be amended to include a fourth choice: Depends on specs

Like I've said before, the specs would have to be voted on. The "election" would have to be conducted by Brad or Fender after the initial suggestions have been made. The could take the suggestions and set up a poll which will determine the outcome of the final product. I don't think that the forum members should conduct the poll. The members can voice thier opinions and Fender can take that info to set up the poll. That part should be left to Fender.

Okay, if you're leading the group who think specs are more important than the price, I'll join the group whose interest may be governed more by price than specs. While I think it might be fun to own a guitar dedicated to this Forum, I've no interest in paying any more than I would for most standard FSR guitars, that being around the $500 mark.

I've no problem with non-MIA Fender guitars. I currently own three FSR Fenders, a Tele and a Strat made in Mexico and an older FSR Tele made in Korea. All three are fine guitars.

We can certainly consolidate the various ideas and submit them to Brad for comment. Again, I want to remind you of the circumstances surrounding the Forum T-shirt and how it might impact on anything the company might be willing to go forward with in the absence of a financial committent from the participants.

Well, I only voted "depending on price" because there was no option of "depending on configuration" or "depending on if it's ugly or not" or some such. My actual level of interest may be higher than I indicated.

I was also wondering about the possibility of something a whole lot cheaper for the masses and very likely a better way of pleasing a greater number of members. I'm thinking of maybe just a pickguard with the Lounge logo, made available in the more common colour options (excluding mint green, of course, which is disgusting on any colour of guitar). That way anyone who is a member can make one of their existing guitars a Lounge guitar. You could even sell the thing undrilled so folks could copy the exact hole pattern from their existing guard and cover a whole lot more models that way. Or maybe a decal of a smaller size such that one could place it on a guard or on a body. Or maybe one or both of those items could be done concurrently with a FSR guitar.

The guitar is more than farfetched. And to be honest I probably wouldn't even buy the pickguard. Nobody cares about where I click my mouse.

I would argue the specs should have immediate input from these people, that is to say, those who have been offering helpful insight to others since day one. Some people might disagree, and so the merry-go-round continues..

That's basically what I said earlier. Some key members decide and the rest are either in or out. It's the only way that is fair to the board and still objective enough to be semi-democratic.

OK - but first we'll have to agree democratically on who is and is not a "key member".

Since I see my name written above I want to be absolutely clear on one thing: I am most definitely NOT a key member. I'm not even a member; I'm a mere common Forum user. I come here to be exactly the same as everyone else, from those who joined on day one to those who made their first post today. One man or woman: one vote.

I really like the pickguard idea: I think it's realistic and do-able, and I'd certainly order one just as a souvenir (I have three Forum T-shirts). And if Fender didn't want to do it there's custom pickguard makers out there who could run up as many or as few as were wanted, so long as Brad gave official permission to use the Forum logo. It would cost significantly more than a standard pickguard, but not silly money.

Except. It HAS to be mint green or I'm out. I love mint green! :D

Cheers - C
