No issues with the design save for the additional machining which means labor and cost.

The bigsby is the deal breaker for me, if no bigsby, I'm not buying it.

I'm tempted to agree with the young man on this one. I'm not exactly going that far just yet so don't count me out yet but I'm sure I have stated before that the guitar would not be interesting enough to me to go for it if it were too pedestrian. To my mind if we're going to create a special guitar that has significance to the unique quality of our beloved community here then there should be something special about it besides a logo. Otherwise all we're doing beyond all having the same model in the same colour (which could be found elsewhere without going to all of this this effort) is a sticker. If there isn't something a little out of the ordinary about it then I'm not sure I see the point. If all it is is a logo we could just as easily go back to the idea of a logo'd scratch plate. Personally I don't care if the Bigsby is a nuisance to restring or not. That's not the point in doing a special run like this. We're doing it so we have something special and unique to share amongst ourselves and feel proud of. I think it should be something you can spot and recognize even in a small picture or from a distance. Other forum users should be able to look at a "show me yer couch" pic and know what it is without being told or without having to show a close up of the back of the headstock. I will personally feel proud to have to put in a little extra effort to change strings for the privilege of owning a unique and significant milestone guitar. A logo by itself isn't enough to me to justify spending a grand or more when I could do that for $50 with a pick guard.

That's my two cents anyway.

It's just the fact that we could double the number of interested parties without the Bigsby that makes me willing to compromise. I think the Bigsby's cool and I hope it can happen somehow. I'm sure the guitar will end up being special.

OK, so what color do we like? .....red?

The thread's rolling along nicely now.

Seafoam Green and a tortoise shell pickguard is the nicest colour combo ever, IMO. But i'd probably be good for anything.
I MIGHT be willing to buy, depending on lots of factors. (available lefty, price, money situation at the time...)

In keeping with the theme, I suggest the 'classic' finish. We've got to be cost conscious in all of this.

ditto this. It's actually this reason (and not price) that I'm not keen on one with a bigsby.

It's a logical argument but IMHO the guitar always looked a tad 'vanilla'. The Bigsby gives it a kind of panache...like the difference between a '57 Chevy 2 -door sedan in green/green cloth, and a '57 Bel Aire two door hardtop in black with a red leather interior.

Yep, I guess Blonde or Butterscotch is the way to go.

I'm really liking this green and white combination though 8)

If not the Bigsby, then I assume that the 6 saddle bridge is still accepted by all.

Just a thought.. Now before I start, I'm actually happy with the 'blonde' be it butterscotch or whatever...

So my argument here is, there is already a 'white blonde' in MIM classic series.. Which ain't too far away from what we are wanting to achieve here. Not that I'm complaining.. But if we were to make it a blonde, the esquire classic series comes in a 'white blonde' already. So how would we justify this project? So to make sure we understand what "unique" is to be applied. I would have suggested something that is just not offered... Something like maybe Taos Turqoise, daphne blue.. Shell pink.. Just thinking out aloud here folks :D

An unusual color or one that has never been offered before would certainly make the Forum Lounge guitar unique.

I too find something appealing about this green and white combo.

Nice looking guitar, Kyle, but I don't see the what's "totally different". As for the specs, I'm afraid that a humbucker pickup on a Tele (or Strat for that matter) would be a deal breaker for me.

With regard to "totally different" I think the model you put together of a Strat-Tele Hybrid not only fits the bill but makes for an awesome guitar. Then again I don't think anyone else has even made a passing comment so maybe I'm alone on this one?

    Cheers!

Explain the hybrid. Are we talking about a Strat with tele parts, or a Tele with Strat parts? A Strat with a Tele neck or a a Tele with a Strat neck. If my memory right I think this is a Pawn Shop series concept, correct?

No love for thinlines or chambered bodies?

I think I've already said that I'd go for the StratoTele guitar.
I am also very open to a chambered body.
Not yet convinced about the F holes.
As far as colour goes I personally think we should stick with Butterscotch as that's what is on the logo.
As far as that goes the StratoTele would also be a great fit with the logo.
That guitar would be unique enough on its own that I could easily live without the Bigsby and that might help to keep the price down.
I'm not familiar with the difference in costs involved in chambered bodies.
It may also entice others to join in like Arjay who's said quite flatly he has no interest in a Tele shape.
Perhaps a Strat shape with Tele gear might be a draw for some?
I dunno.

Just thinking out loud ...
