The issue with the art for the logo centered around one member's impressions of a Stratocaster image appearing on a Telecaster guitar. I'm comfortable with going which every way a majority see fit. I suppose the next logical step is for Brad to construct a spec sheet check sheet with as many of these ideas listed as options and have everyone indicate yes or no. We could have a first cut, and a second if needed. The final design will go, if cost is not an issue. Other wise we'll have to make some changes.

So. Let's try it this way. Takers for some version of the Esquire (I too like ZZDoc's idea of ME's electricals):

Bluer Monkey
ZZDoc
Ceri
Boxbang
Solid Body Love Songs

Who else? Blertles? Mike? Others...?

Cheers - C

You can add me to that list C - although I'd still be hoping for a no-Bigsby option - I barely use a vibrato on a strat so just don't need one on a tele/esquire platform. Abby pup and ME wiring... yumm!

I think the idea of a logo on the back of the headstock is really growing on me. For a couple of reasons. One is that a few people have previously raised concerns that a large logo on the scratch plate would not be appealing to them. It hasn't bothered me much because a guard can easily be replaced but a second reason I just thought of is that a pick guard and a neck plate could both be duplicated (read faked) without going to extreme lengths. We may want to consider the notion that at some point down the road 20 years these guitars may develop some small amount of collector value. A logo under the clear coat would go a long way to protecting that exclusivity.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Well Mike....in that you asked, and considering the current range of street prices for MIM and MIA guitars, including the drop permitted by the company during the recent Spring campaign. I'd say $650-$1500 depending on the build...on the lower end for an MIM and higher for an MIA each with all the bells and whistles discussed and included.

$1,071.99, is the retail on the platform which is in the right ballpark would it be possible to make it close to the upper range ($1200.00?) and see how we can approach the lower range from there?

I always assumed that the placement and size of the logo was for demonstration purposes only and that the actual logo, if placed on the pickguard, would be a lot smaller, about the size of a quarter. Glad you brought this up, BMW-KTM.

    Cheers!

I also think that's interesting. Lotta very unique heritage there. After all, this is THE Fender Forum, not just any old FSR. 8)

Hello! This is suddenly looking a bit more possible. :D

Now: for anyone who's sitting on the fence on this thing wondering which side to get down. Earlier on this thread BMW-KTM told us about an earlier forum who ordered a special edition guitar - a run of 68, was it?

One thing to think about: normally we warn people who worry about resale price that all guitars lose value the minute you take them out the shop. However, it seem that ain't quite true: apparently that other forum guitar actually sells for significantly more than its subscribers paid for it, and from quite soon after they received it. So who knows, maybe what we're putting together here is that very rare thing, a guitar whose value actually increases, without having to wait 40 years.

That sure ain't my reason for wanting one, but it may interest some.

Cheers - C

The number sounds about right, Ceri, but I think that there have been other FSR models with fewer units produced. For example my beloved 2010 FSR American Standard was one in a run of twenty-five. I wouldn't be surprised if some members have FSR guitars from even smaller runs.

So far we have ten on the ESQUIRE list. I'm sure Brad will also want one but I'll wait for him to put his own name on the list.

On my vote, the Esquire could be w or w/o Bigbsy, although it would be cool with.

my only issue is the bigsby is what makes this guitar. without it, its just an esquire with a forum logo..... very boring looking, and with the music I play, sounding. then again, thats just my opinion. an idea would be to sell it with a normal tele bridge but also a bigsby that you can swap if you want to.
It would appear that those in favor or favoring the Esquire are divided when it comes to the Bigsby. I can see the merits on both sides so I'm hoping that it will be as you suggest, an option people can take or leave.

As for being just an Esquire with a forum logo, I would have to disagree. Before reading his post about the Eldred circuit, the Abby pups, and the nod to Leo, anything other than a Strat would have been a deal breaker for me. In fact I was really hoping we'd end up going with your version of the Strat-Tele Hybrid but ZZDoc made me reconsider and appreciate the Esquire. There is also the fact that I own three Strats but not a single Esquire.

    Cheers!

When SK first suggested the Bigsby, I called it a "BearTrap". I've grown to like the concept, but I can see why it wouldn't appeal to some. So a few pages back, I posted this non invasive, non permanent mount.

I can live without the Bigsby, if it means getting more support for the Esquire proposition.

These Vibromate non permanent Bigsby mounts seem OK if you really need one.

Something like this could be part of the package, so we could all have a play with it OR the owners could simply add it later. Either way, I'm still keen.

Goodonyaz ...Mark.
