I expect that the design using the Bigsby was offered as a bit of a twist on the usual and customary, considering the uniqueness of this project. I kind of like it. I'm not taking the design issue for this one too seriously. I'll save that for my next Custom Shop project.

I can live without the Bigsby, if it means getting more support for the Esquire proposition.

These Vibromate non permanent Bigsby mounts seem OK if you really need one.

I agree with old tom about the appeal of the Esquire's simplicity.
The only "feature" I would add, would be a swimming pool cavity, providing endless pickup options for those who like modifications - yes I realize that even routing out some wood would cost extra to set up but it may increase the interest level.
I also agree that there needs to be a "depends on guitar" option in the poll.
If it's a Squier, then I'm interested. If it's a nice two-piece USA body with binding, then I'm still interested. To me, it depends on the guitar, not the price.

That's part of it, for sure. However, there's still the issue of cost, primary to many.

The Lounge Bass should be an Ash Fender JP90 with a Standard Jazz neck and alnico pickups. Fretless available...

It's been nearly 5 months and not a lot of input from mods.. Perhaps either a chasing a dream or maybe this needs to go on the backseat for a while?

Not to be pessimistic however I would have thought some progress or pre-lim water cooler discussion from the powers that be would have taken place by now :)

Time will tell I guess :)

I will resign from inquiring about this topic until I see a response Fender Instruments. I see that there is still interest from the members. Let's see what the guys at Fender can do. I do not want to see a bust like the shirt fiasco.

Interest can wane with time...

People's situations change... their discretionary income (or the demands on it) change, they buy other axes leaving them no leeway to acquire another, etc.

I know personally, I am less inclined to participate than I was when this thread was only 3 pages long... now it's 10 times that...

In the meantime, I've bought my Heritage semi-hollow, 2 amps and started taking lessons, all of which have resulted in a little less Doh-Re-Me available to throw at this Guitar Thing.

I suspect there are many others in similar circumstances.

That's not pessimism... that's reality.

IMHO, Fender's letting this one slip through their fingers...

Maybe we should go back to trying for a Forum Tee Shirt instead... :|

Cheers!

Well, the T-shirt's been and gone, and from the level of response going back five years, there was enough surplus needing to be sold off, so as to not to give support to enough try. I can tell you with confidence that attention is being paid to this project and that hopefully we will have some feedback from one of the moderators with respect to a suggested design and cost after they have distilled all of the input received on this thread.
