Doc, couldn't we change the logo guitar to a Tele for this FSR?

That would be a question for Brad. There may be existing graphics which would simplifiy reproducing the logo for application to the pickguard. Using a Tele graphic would require creating new art. Personally, my eye does not see a conflict here.

I think I've mentioned this, I don't mind a small motif on the rear of the headstock or the neckplate. But if that logo is on the pickguard- I'm gonna take it off. It's too loud.

Eww.

Thankyou Doc. 8)

Brad, broad parameters, some refinement and I'm ready to play, lol.

Yes, the silence is deafening.
Ah well, thanks Superkid. I'm now seriously considering building one of these.

Fresh look, we will need a little help because the MSRP is more than the price point (under 1K) we were hoping for. If there is anything I can do to help the cause and make a decision easier (I live in a very populated area so I can do some promotion or PR to reach some, hopefully, new customers LOL :D ). Here is a new platform Image

Boom!! Perfect.

Add a motif or logo behind the headstock face or on the neckplate, custom pickup, and that's about it. :)

Help an old man out here. Sans the Biggy and the scratchplate art what's the diff save for finish and color of the scratchplate?[ I like this guitar too..maybe better, I liked the Biggy, I liked the idea of having the Eldred circuit with a hot Abbby wound pup, I liked the art, and I like the idea of a custom neck plate] As far as costs go, I doubt we're talking MSRP at all. I'd hope for us to get it at what a dealer would pay per unit for an FSR. We're still waiting on Brad. I don't believe he's letting this slide.

Hee-hee - I've a feeling if Brad reads this thread through to this point he'll be scratching his head wondering; "But what the heck guitar do y'all want?" 26 pages and not the shadow of a consensus!

I'm amazed to hear that some other forum managed to come up with a design that had enough takers to place a Special Run order. I wonder what their spec sheet was?

One very handy (and probably terminal) piece of information we could use is what is the minimum number of pieces required for a Factory Special Run? In other words, how many people have to commit to this idea to make it happen?

Cheers - C

Edit: typo

I actually really like this design! I could see this as a regular Fender model.

I suspect the longer this thread gets (without getting anywhere) the more Brad finds himself putting off the task of reading it through.

The minute we're all agreed on a design we can just email him and I'm sure he'll give us his input. I wonder when that moment will arrive...?

Cheers - C

If you're talking about the FDP FSR it was a fairly basic SSS MIA Std Strat in surf green and a painted headstock, 3 ply white scratch plate, 2 point trem with cast saddles, rosewood board and a tweed case. That's a few years ago because I still remember those discussions and I haven't been active over there for at least 5 or 6 years, I think, and it was some time before I left there that it happened. Actually, now that I think about it, I think it was in 2000 because I seem to recall some discussion about whether they wanted the rolled edge fretboard and that started in 2000. Except for the painted headstock and the FDP logo on the neck plate you'd never be able to distinguish it from a distance from any other MIA Strat.

What they did was to open the idea up to public comment like we're doing here except those discussions didn't go on for months like this one has. They got several feasible ideas together from the membership and then a small number of members (the ones with either the highest dollar amount of contributions or greatest involvement in moderating the site) put their heads together and decided what it would be. Once they had decided on a set of options they put it out to the members to either commit to it or pass. I did not get one. In hindsight, perhaps that's a good thing.

There were 68 of them made if that helps answer the other questions regarding how many are needed before Fender will go for it. I had some pics at one time. I'll see if I can't find them and post a couple for you if you're interested.
