this is an exact copy os the guitar you see in the logo. I think if we made the guitar like this, there would be no need for a logo.

^^^ this looks very reasonable

I'm not discrediting the esquire and I'm in favour for both. But we have to look at what is going to be realistic in terms of manufacture here. An Esquire, yes I'd love to own one. However this would mean getting fender to manufacture one when they have only just discontinued them from production in Mexico.

A Strat- readily avail at any level to manufacture. MIM or the low end american line seems to be a good option. A Tele would be good also. But bearing in mind, keeping it simple and straight forward with a few special features wouldn't be too much of an ask and more likely to get a green light.

The next step would be to get Brad to present what configuration to the powers that be, and to get an agreement to go ahead which I'm guessing would be either a quick yay or a nay. This would depend on how many confirmed and 'paid' orders there are. This would also be the point where some of us will be like 'you know what, this is out of my price range'.

Then comes where do they get bought from? Who takes our money? I'm thinking these would be through retailers here- international orders at my level would attract a markup if a distributed is only getting one or a few specific guitars into the country of purchase. Locally in the states, this would be via your usual local retailers.

Just throwing that out there- don't want to seem like I'm changing my opinion here, I'm just being a little realistic in terms of what we can make feasible and what's potentially not.

They've already done an FSR for the FDP with over 100 units made, so I'm told. I'm confident that there's a gameplan in place for it.

Are you kidding, this is GREAT! Thanks, SKcoppertele. (Nitpick: I had the Tele selector switch in mind but the 3-Way Strat switch is also cool.)

    Cheers!

Seen the Pawnshop Fender '51; Pawnshop '70's; Maybe this idea is next.

Gosh, I thought we were getting somewhere with the Bigsby'd Tele at an affordable price point. Now we seem to have wandered off in all kinds of different directions again!

For what it's worth, I think the following is the closest we've come to something do-able. Pop a Fender Forum logo on the front or back of the headstock, under the lacquer, and I'm ready to buy:

If you read this whole thread (yes I did) you will see overwhelming support for a Telecaster based guitar, even though most of us play Strats (me too)

SK's Esquire is the only idea with anything resembling a consensus.

I'm no bean-counter but here goes.

*Classic Vibe Squier Telecaster in Blond minus the neck pup (or the equivalent MIM Tele)

*US made Bigsby with a non permanent mount.

*Black bakelite PG. I've seen these on ebay for about $30.

*Bridge pup - hmm maybe something special, dunno.

Of course not everyone loves it (I do) ,but this would appeal to the largest number of people IMO.

Goodnyaz ...Mark.

Anyone else feel like making a public commitment on this thing?

Goodnyaz +2 - C

It seems we're like little lost lambs, wandering about, waiting for the shepherd to guide us to green pastures. :) No worries, I'm sure it won't be long now before Brad chimes in. ...

It goes without saying that no matter what we come up with, there is absolutely no way that everyone will be satisfied but still it's fun to see and discuss the various ideas, configurations, and possibilities. The Bigsby and Tele is not something I would consider for myself but I would certainly be on the list for the Strat-Tele amalgamation SKcoppertele came up: Strat body, neck, with Tele pickguard and electronics.

Cheers!

...Uhhh...yes, sir, Ceri,,sir...What ever design is chosen, I'd like us to have a price point for an MIM Fender version. I've been put on notice by one that that would be preferable to a Squier by Fender.
Now drink up :!:

+1 but trying to be as optimistic as possible I thought I'd ring the bell one more time and see if Brad answers.

I'm in favor, thx Kyle, remove the Strat from the pickguard or change the logo for this instrument for us Loungers, MIM keeps us in price range.

Removing the Strat from the pickguard changes the art logo of the Forums. That's not the intent here.
