Back on the topic....I really like this idea. :!: It smokes. The single pickup sets up the pickguard perfectly for the logo and the Bigsby is a nice added touch. The finsh is a must for a Tele. I go with this if they'd build it.

+1, didn't think a bigsby would add so much character. 8)[/quote]

I like this design as well.

I also would like to see a re-issue of the Performer as well.

G'day, Yep, I'm in. It's good to see the interest is still there. With or without the Bigsby, I'd definitely be on board. The huge logo is still an issue for me though. I just think there are more tasteful ways of doing it (ie engraving or a small enamel badge). I would replace the pickguard with a blank one, so it's not a huge problem for me.
It's encouraging that some of the forum's long-time and respected members are keen on this design, but I guess we'll see what eventuates if and when Brad puts the wheels in motion. No doubt consensus will rule.
Goodonyaz ...Mark.

Coming up on three months and 300 hundred posts, the Fender Lounge Guitar Project is still in the early stage but there is hope. I thought it would be a good idea to discuss the broader strokes instead of focusing too much attention on the details. My feeling is that if we take care of more general parameters that the details will fall into place. Of course I could be wrong.

    Unique
I would like to see a guitar which is unique. This does not necessarily mean a completely new design, but something that sets it apart from other Strats (or Teles, or ...) including but not limited to: finish, color, pups, decal, Kung Fu switching magic. It would be something one would NOT wish to modify but rather keep stock.

    Limited Initial Distribution
The guitar would be made available first to forum members and then to the public at large.

    Price Point
    $500 USD to $700 USD

Cheers!

I like this as I've always loved Teles...

But I want a FRS Lounge Precision!

Three days since the last post and the thread is falling down the page. Could it be that interest is waning? :( ...

We have 75 votes, 58 of which are in the yes or maybe category. This appears to a be a cost sensitive issue. IMHO the matter now needs some input from FMIC as to whether a run of 50+ guitars is something they would consider. On a cost basis, an Esquire as pictured above, done as a Squier by Fender might just meet the need. A price comparison with an MIM Fender of the same type would be of value. Again, if they could provide it to us at dealer's cost, they'd still be making their profit, and it might be an incentive to buy.

The logo on the one above is too large and gawdy looking, IMO.

But then again, sometimes more is better?

Completely off-topic here, but how awesome is the Fender Performer??

Right on! I must admit, I thought they dropped the ball a bit with the headstock shape, but apart from that I just love the Performer and really wish I'd got one, back in the day.

For that matter, much as I'm not into V-shaped guitars I always felt they got it spot on with the Katana, back around the same time as the Performer.

A pair of truly interesting guitars it would amazingly cool to see revived. Though I'm not holding my breath: I'm afraid the balance sheet probably says no.

Yeah! I'm again surprised to find I agree.

In real life I think Bigsbys are horrible: I've never met one that did anything other than throw the guitar out of tune if you so much as glanced at it. But they look total rock 'n' roll, and a silly part of me always lusts at the thought of them.

Now, if you were to put one on a Squier with the finish SK has spec'd... yep, at that price I'd be in! My word is my bond: for what it's worth that can be counted a commitment to buy, in the unlikelihood it happens.

Cheers - C

The size of that artwork could certainly be reduced where the scratchplate is concerned or, for that matter, a peel off would take us back to 'go' where price is concerned, and one could slap it on any part of their favorite guitar and have done with issue. Thus we have come full circle methinks.

Agreed. IMHO..borrowing from the idea of the upper horn of the guitar and translating to the head stock might have been a better idea than that spearhead they created. I bow to your mindseye in my curiosity as to how you might have fashioned it.

+1 Looking for Brad to chime in.

FWIW I have a 2010 FSR American Standard which is part of a limited run of 25 so a run or 50 or more is definitely feasible.

Cheers!

It's been a while since I looked at this thread, and seeing the tele - which is kind of cool in its way - with the lounge logo on it was a bit jarring. Not because of the size or anything, but because a tele, with a picture of a strat on it, seems kind of odd.

But then, another thought struck me, maybe there's only one choice for how a Fender Lounge guitar should look? It's in the logo on the top-left corner of every single page on the forum...

[edit: and then I noticed I had missed a page, and Brad had suggested the same thing! So, yes I like that idea and would also go $500-$700 dollars for one]

I've never been privy to the creator's philosophy of the art behind the 'coat of arms' which constitutes the Loung Forums logo, but I do have some thoughts. The Stratocaster as being the identifier might have something to do with the company's impression as to which guitar, in their present day [2007] would be most quickly associated with the company. I would venture to say that there are a proportionately larger number of 'guitar heroes' playing Strats as opposed to Teles. We've been treated to really creative Stratocaster and Tele renderings using the Forum's pick logo as seen above and though I have preferred Stratocasters since 1958, the esthetics of the latest rendering using an Esquire platform with the added touch of the Bigsby is, IMHO, the best yet.
