No doubt, Iv'e just never tried one. I'd give it a go. Would that contraption be within the budget?

The show ends on Sunday January 27th. I figure we give Brad a well deserved day off on Monday, so in two weeks from today he'll be ready to tell us more.
POST NAMM COUNTDOWN : 14 Days

Cheers!

It's been quite a while since I visited this thread. I agree it would be really cool to see something different and fresh but on the other hand I also recognize that Fender has a number of guitar styles beyond the Strat and Tele that don't sell very well. I'm thinking Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Jagstang, Robbin Ford, etc. I don't see very many of those guitars in stores and the ones I do see hang on the wall for many many months before being purchased.

Fender has also had a number of "variations on a theme" trying to breath new life into old designs and they didn't sell very well either. There was a square edged Strat called Aerodyne or something like that. There was a spanky new interpretation of the P-Bass called Zone-Bass to name a few. There are more ... if I just put some effort into recollecting them I could name a lot more.

The point is I don't think we would have much luck trying to convince Fender to come up with a new design or to even commit to building a new design that we came up with. Assuming we could agree on a design and that's another mountain to climb. They've been down that new design road many times. Like it or not the Strats and Teles are what sell. I think it would behoove us to either abandon the idea altogether or else accept the fact we'd be limited to versions of a Strat or a Tele.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I really like that Performer. If Brad did not want to go with the Performer body and headstock, the pickups and wiring alone on a Stratocaster would be something different. It definately would be something unique to the Fender Forum Guitar.

Anybody still interested in a Fender Forum Lounge guitar? I haven't seen too many posts or ideas on the subject in a while.

We put the topic on the back burner while Brad was busy preparing for NAMM.

The show ended on Sunday January 27th so now that the dust has settled maybe we can pick up the discussion again and hopefully Brad will chime in and give us some direction.

Cheers!

Ditto.....Ask Alain  He has a couple in his collection. The one on this video is a beauty. We're 18 years down the road from the inception date and a 1 year run during Fender's resurrection. It just might go as a 21st Century Fender product. It's unique enough for me to say that I, for one, would definitely buy this guitar.

Back on the topic....I really like this idea. :!: It smokes. The single pickup sets up the pickguard perfectly for the logo and the Bigsby is a nice added touch. The finsh is a must for a Tele. I go with this if they'd build it.

+1, didn't think a bigsby would add so much character. 8)

If they had Squier build it like that, it would bring down the cost and still suit the purpose and vibe, especially if they did us the courtesy of pricing it at what a dealer would pay FMIC.
