It could be a color that hasn't been used for a long time. And I'd go into the direction of a MIM Strat or Tele. Shouldn't be too expensive and maybe it could be a guitar like the Cabronita. Not just another Tele, but something with a twist.

Cheers

David

Something new, something completely different. Call it The Fender Fourm -- AKA, The Thread Locker, nuff said.

...a maple neck thru w/ mahogany wings, or a mahogany top wing, alder bottom wing. A unique headstock. Something with holes in the body to make it nice 'n light and verrry interesting to look at...some sort of whispy line of holes, maybe the flower of life carved into the lower bout area.

A newly designed bridge, a bridge that floats and then latches firmly into place when desired, something that just don't go out of tune and is highly resonant, gobs of sustain.

Pickups that do both single coil and humbucker and will pull off nearly any tone you desire.

Locking tuners.

Something that comes out of the box, without question, perfect, ready to play.

Stain, not shiny paint. Or stain mixed with shiny paint somehow.

And a pizza with every purchase cuz you won't want to put it down until you collapse!

oh, and a Bluetooth unit so you can take calls while playing or order another pizza if you still can't put it down.

I'm visualizing a black>yellow>white cocktail glass burst top with red sides and back and a black pickguard engraved with Fender Lounge logo script in white. White plastic and a solid 21 fret maple neck. It might be more expeditious to enable a finish as such as opposed to the complex elimination process of designing a unique guitar. Either a MIM Classic '50's Tele or Strat for the sake of economy and simplicity. Nothing against the Jazzmaster or Jaguar. They both have carved out a small niche but from an historical point of view IMHO the original maple neck Tele and Strat are the historical pillars of the Fender line as is the nod to the vintage period.

All agree on either a MIM Standard Tele or Strat for the sake of economy and simplicity. Nothing against the Jazzmaster or Jaguar. I did a little editing while you were replying but the essence remains. One should be able to order either guitar but if only one were enabled, I'd go with the Tele for historical reasons.

A good Prognosis Doc, if I may use that word to describe your plan above and perhaps to develop a special Electronic circuit for the Forum's "unique guitar". 8)

If we were adhering to a strictly classic design we ought to keep everything stock. However, the thought now occurs to me that we could do an Esquire and put the Eldred circuitry including his twisted Tele pickup in it as a tribute to him. That would eliminate the need for a neck pickup and leave uncut wood for the artwork in the center of the body.

I always thought the "twisted tele" was a neck pickup 8)

Cheers

I always thought a "Twisted Tele" was a Tele with a really bad neck.

Well, there's two 'rights' here actually. He does play a Telecaster and you are correct in your observation. However, there is a circuitry he created which is known as the Eldred Esquire Wiring Mod, an article about which appeared in Premier Guitar, which I give you leave to search for at your leisure. I'm thinking that an Esquire would leave more wood for art, yield a sonically creative instrument and give a nod to Mike. The article notes that Mike prefers a hotter pickup in that circuit than the standard Tele/Esquire bridge pickup, so we might find out what that is and incorporate it into the design. This will also bring him in as a consultant on the project which would be nice. Perhaps we can also have the neck plate engraved with the names of Brad, Rob and Mike to round it all and name this guitar 'The Fender Moderator'.

An Esquire sounds pretty interesting. It would be pretty cool if everyone else would agree to that design, and the "Twisted Tele" mod sounds awesome.

Edit: used the word interesting too much...

I like the Esquire idea too. I have Strats, and I have a Tele. But I don't have an Esquire, that would be something cool and unique. And I like that it leaves plenty of room for artwork.

I like the esquire idea aswel. Might I add that there could be a neck pickup rout incase future mods could be done..

Yeah, a blonde Esquire 8)
I'd like to see the artwork done with a little subtlety though. A neck plate or an enamel badge would be very tasteful.
...Mark.
