Anyway, suffice it to say in case not already obvious from that last post that my own interest is definitely there in attempting to support the effort. I think it'd be cool as heck and speaking as a guitarist (and bassist), I'd love one myself!

Well this is beginning to look promising, lets see how this pans out.. With some saving through the year I may be able to stretch for something special but not too over the top.

Regarding the specs, we may have to be careful not to spec this one out too much otherwise we may end up with an 'American std' or a deluxe.

Perhaps something like a standard that is affordable that has some not so often seen features and a special colour that is not often made -to set it apart from the rest... Like ocean turquoise for example...Just say'n :D

This is great, Brad. It's what I had in mind when I suggested "guidance" but wasn't expecting anything until after NAMM so a special "thanks" for popping in and giving us the thumbs up! :D

Cheers!

I am stoked to see Brad's replies. As this process will not start until after NAMM and such, I am putting aside a special fund for this project. Looking forward to upcoming events.

Thanks Brad and all who helped fuel this endeavor.

Wouldn't it be better to pick a current Strat/Tele/Pbass/Jbass model and offer a custom finish on that?

i think a new/rare finish would be far more interesting than what pickups are in it (for example). i can buy any guitar and put CS 69's in it for relatively cheap and very quickly. however having your guitar factory finished in a rare/interesting/new colour is much harder to do.

Until the thread is locked, let's shoot around ideas. A unique finish on a model already in production works too. Another idea for Brad to consider.

It would certainly be expeditious and require significantly less effort than coming to a consensus, or as Brad put it, a compromise on the specs. I think this is a solid idea, nikininja and could be a viable route.

I would agree although I believe most would prefer to keep such a guitar stock. As for the finish, you're spot on with new or rare; something to set this guitar apart from all the rest.

Cheers!

Thoughts on an instrument whose cosmetics are directly derived from the instrument in the forums logo graphic itself?

Kind of ... when I get more time free (post NAMM) we can do up an actual rendering of what it'd look like. Just was curious to gauge initial reaction on that idea - I liked it just from a standpoint of actually tying the instrument directly back to the forums themselves in some way.

I agree, the lounge guitar is a Strat, but, might a new lounge t-shirt commemorating the Tele (Fender artists, um.?) to go with the guitar? :D

Many of our new-comers are younger and have to depend on their parents for support and there are members on fixed incomes and in lower wage brackets who don't have the financial means of some other members. In order for all members to avail of a Forum guitar the cost shouldn't make it unobtainable for some and consequently maybe an MIM or Affinity Forum guitar would be ideal. These guitars are of good quality and a lot of MIMs are of excellent quality.Could it be feasable to have 2 or 3 "Trim levels",like the 2004 50th Ann. had?If some members wanted a premium guitar they could avail of it but if people of modest financial means could have a good lower cost version that could be an option too. Many members can do their own work so even those with the "budget" models could provide upgrades and mods to their guitars over time to bring them up to near the standards of the premium guitars.

Maybe the paint department could come up with a custom colour such as Forum Fuscia-just a thought, after opening for the Experience, Jimi Hendrix gave a very young Billy Gibbons a pink Strat.Real men wouldn't have a problem playing a pink Strat or Tele,if asked about the colour people could just say that the colour is salmon.
