Different strokes. The several options are a good idea. What's workable remains to be seen.

Indeed. It seems from Brad's comments that the Lounge Tshirt didn't go over very well. I know I got one back in the day. I think the hard part with something like this is that beyond the monetary considerations there are people who would like something more subdued, and those that want something that stands out.

In terms of monetary commitment, wether it be on an instrument or a pickguard. I could see Fender wanting pre-orders. Things like this have to be hard to gauge. In terms of taste, perhaps the best option might be the sticker. One available in color, another more like a car window sticker that would blend in more with the pickguard and not jump out so much. Just a thought.

Personally, I'll always hope for the "custom fsr raffle" I preposed. I know it'll never happen, but it'd be super cool I think. :?

I like the pickguard idea, however I think the logo looks is a little too big- also how is the logo to be applied without it getting scratched off?

At least a neckplate is more of a universal item, much like along the lines of:

That's a sterling Idea.....To start with at least.....

OK, the number 3 "different Telecaster" is: Image this one has many cool features and with enough interest we might be able to mix and match aspects of all 3. Pretty sure that they are all MIM so price is in our favor, or, a Forum neck plate would be cool too :D 8)

ps: ash body with a Natural finish and a maple neck, or, one piece maple neck

I am in favor of just a neck plate or a pick guard. I am afraid that not too many people would be able to throw down for a whole guitar and this would leave Fender in a same situation they were in with the Fender Lounge Shirts. Which by the way I wished I had purchased more of as mine is now beyond wearing except for around the house.

If I could choose a neck plate, please make it one with the microtilt hole as the guitar I would want to put it on needs one there.

And even with the pickguard, there would be many orders, and everyone's guitar is different. For example, some would want a pickguard for a tele, some for a Strat. There are forum users that have precision bass, jazz bass, black or white, pearl or parchment or mint... so for those who may have a guitar that requires a special guard for a '72 custom tele or Thinline for example, this could get tricky.

..or myself- I have a HSS Strat with a FR term, so the cut again will have to be different. At least, with the neckplate it's much easier.

If there is an opportunity for this, I'm all in. I won't hesitate to give Brad my credit card details and my mailing address and I don't mind waiting at all for delivery.

I like the idea of the neck plate, I don't like the idea of a sticker, this pickguard is ok as long as the logo is not overbearing. As all of these are good ideas, I still think it misses the point of a Forum Guitar. Everyone is talking about how specs and styles aren't going to jive and things will get messy, but the solution to this is a survey. Fender sets up a survey, and all interested parties will complete said survey. This will have all the choices of body style, necks, frets, pick ups etc. Once the surveys are complete, Fender takes that info and whichever specs received the highest percentage of requests, that is turned into our forum guitar. Fender will then present the results to us and start taking pre orders.

RK's qualification adds another to the lot. Brad has made it known that he would distill all of this down to the least complicated of them all. It's a waiting game now.

A no from me. I just don't want another Strat. My Tele is about perfect aside from the bridge pickup doesn't switch from humbucker to singlecoil and do both sounds perfectly.

And if some huge gregarious logo was plastered all over the front of the guitar I wouldn't play it if it was made of gold and free. A neck plate logo would be ideal.

Looks like I missed a whole page when I suggested a neck plate! I with you blertles, I reckon a neckplate would be a nice thing to have, and would work for so many more guitars.

and what colour might a neck plate need to be? Maybe offer bronze for 0-2 pick members, silver for 0-4 picks, and gold for 0-6 pick members? With or without microtilt holes...

It's a clever idea but pick #'s change with time and the simpler the better IMHO.
