I am not sure if this has been posted before. It probably has, but anyways, we should get Fender to do an FSR Lounge guitar and have limited numbers available to FORUM MEMBERS ONLY. They could set up a poll to determine what body shape and all the specs. Once all the data has been received, the guitar with the highest amount of votes would be made specially for us!
What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure they would do that if there were enough people who committed to buying one. They did it before for another guitar board I was on. If you are serious about it I would suggest you PM Brad and ask him to look into it. I don't think he reads every thread on here.

We'll see if more people would like this, and then maybe pose the question to Brad! :D

You are the OP. You could simply edit your first post to make it a poll to determine interest level and get the ball rolling. Just a thought.

I thought about a poll when I was thinking about this post. I figured there would be way too much for me to list on the buffet of guitar specs.

You're not the first with this idea. We got bogged down in the matter of specs and design and Brad had misgivings due to the lack of popularity of the Forum shirts which led him to believe that a committment to a guitar would be less forthcoming. Even were it to be an MIM FSR you're still looking at at least $500-$1000 depending on final design.

Now, let me take it from another point of view. You can go to the Visitor's Center in Corona and build a guitar from scratch. So if they wanted to do something special for and with us, the one thing that would have to be standard would be what ever art would go on the guitar and, to make matters simple, the body would best be white or black, unless they give us the option to order from a palate of finishes available at the Visitors Center. From there, and working with an inventory of what's in the parts bin in Corona, you could order the guitar, pay for it, the builders would pick the parts and voila!!!

Sounds like a really cool idea, yodacaster, but I'm curious as to how the specs will be worked out. I haven't given this any thought, but just off the top of my head I tend to agree with what you said about there being way too much to list on a buffet of guitar specs.

... Just read ZZDoc's post while previewing mine and the specs seem to be a sticking point.

Cheers!

Well, the first question would seem to be:

Telecaster or Stratocaster.. ??

Maybe even the Mustangs/Jaguars should be thrown into the mix.

Then, why pay a premium for a Guitar which will not likely have any collectible value in future due to an association with an internet forum which will be as antiquated, obsolete, and non-existent as the BBs of the 90's are today.. ??

People are always recommending that prospective buyers sample as many guitars as they can and select the one best suited for them. That there isn't any 'better' or 'worse', just differences.

Not to rain on the Parade, but why wouldn't people just go ahead and spec their own guitars reflecting their individual tastes and specs..??

cheers!

There seems to be a core of rock solid forum members that have been here since the begining. The rest of us regulars are like the Fender Forum extended family. It would be kind of cool for all of us involved in this community to have a guitar to commemerate the friends and time well spent on this forum!

You'll never get a concensus on the specs to make something like this worthwhile for Fender to build.

Party Pooper! LOL!
If this idea ever comes to fruition, the specs would be based on votes.
