Have fun, Savoy Brown is an old blues favorite. Chris Youlden is a great singer.

Really FUN show... Great Blues - 150 minute set !!

Even though his 'weapon of choice' was an assemblage of Gibbies', the music was great !!

Cheers!

It was an excellent show !

Savoy Brown originated in London in the mid-60s Brit Blues craze... think John Mayalls Bluesbreakers, etc.

They've been through so many bandmates that there is only 1 original member, and have played here so long that they don't have a lot of Brit in their Blues anymore, but still give a good show.

The venue is Famous Dave's BBQ restaurant - the original one in Minneapolis. Founder Dave Anderson is a Blues fanatic and so built-in a stage and an old roadhouse theme. He did it mostly so he can hang out with all these great talents. It only seats 225 and Tix are never priced more than $10 (with a few rare exceptions), this is even waived if you have a meal.

Over the years at Dave's, we've seen Johnny Lang, Edgar Winter, Johnny Winter, Tinsley Ellis, Mose Allison, Jay McShann, Luther Allison, Bo Diddley, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Buddy Guy, Elvin Bishop, Robert Cray, Etta James, Jimmie Vaughan, to name just a few.

Next Sat. nite - Little Ed and The Blues Emperials - $6 !

cheers!

Six bucks, that's awesome. Maybe I should move up there from Cincy - a great blues club and a real NFL team to boot! Oo-aw.

I had just recently downloaded several Savoy Brown songs a few weeks ago. I had recalled a few of the old albums my older brother and I had gotten as "hand me downs" from our aunt and uncles when we were just wee little rockers. It's great to hear that the band is still at it, in one form or another. And at six bucks a ticket!?! Amazing!

Well, it ain't Beale Street, 6th Avenue, Frenchman Street or Saint Claude Avenue...

But, it's the best Blues Club we have going up here and Dave does a great job booking the Talent, often passing thru and stopping to do a one night gig.

They also have a 3-day Blues Festival held in a Downtown park every Summer.

cheers!
