Just having some hard feels lately. I was playing and suddenly I just slowed down, changed to clean, and put my reverb at 4. I tried my best to let loose, but it wasn't happening. I was getting slow, somber, actually kind of decent sounding playing. I also used a chord I hadn't touched in about a year and a half, because it sounded terrible with gain to me.

Anyone else ever want to be aggressive, you know, just go wild, but can't? I hope I don't lose my edge, because I'd probably end up losing my drummers. ;-;

I don't think that's something to worry about, in terms of losing your edge. Once in a while, it's nice to visit another way of playing. And who knows, that somber moment could help you find something you want to develop more later. But I know the feeling.

When I get kinda mellow, I tune my tele to CGCGCC, use a slide, turn on the Big Muff, and do slow strums at the 12th fret for some open yet drone-y sounds. It sounds solid and consistent and kinda comfortable and relaxing once I get into it. Drone really isn't my thing in terms of what kind of music I want to focus on making, but it's nice for those somber moods where I wanna get lost in sounds without too much effort.
