Looking to change the jewel lights on my amps from stock red to something more Bluesy, I came across a link to Antique Electronic Supply on Justin Holton's site. Has anyone here placed an order with them and if so, is this a vendor you would recommend?

Thanks and Cheers!

I buy from AES all the time. They're trustworthy and reliable.

Thanks, Arjay.

Now before I place my order for 3 jewel lights - one each for my HRD, Champion 600, and Vibro Champ XD - I trust one size fits all?

Cheers!

Pull the jewel from your HRD and try to test-fit it into the other two amps. You'll have your answer forthwith.

Well, ... if you're going to be logical and straight forward then this would be the thing to do ... Now I'm wondering why I didn't think of this myself and feeling a little  embarassed.

... okay, ... a few minutes later ...

It turns out that all three amps have different jewels. So much for one-size-fits-all. The Champ 600 jewel feels very light and I think may even be plastic made to resemble steel. The HRD jewel is solid, has weight, and I couldn't remove the Vibo Champ's jewel which suggests that maybe it's held in place with a nut on the inside of the cabinet.

I checked the manuals that came with the amps but no detail as to the jewel lights is given. Of all the wonderful modifications bluesky636 did to the Champion 600 I think he left the jewel stock otherwise I'd ask him for the part number. I suppose I could place the order and chances are the blue jewel would fit one out of three amps but I would like to get the right part for the right amp.

Interesting...I thought these were all standard parts and interchangeable on Fender amps?
Never occurred to me that jewel lights came in different thread sizes.
I guess I've been lucky when buying them.

Fender amps and red jewel lights go together like peanut butter and jelly. Anything else would be like peanut butter and, well, ketchup.

Thanks, Miami Mike. Always good to have more than one reputable source on hand.

 You know, you're probably right and I hope I'm not committing a sacrilege tampering with the Fender red but I figured it would be cool to have a blue jewel light now that my HRD is more Bluesy following the tube swap. It's also the only "mod" (I'm using the term very loosely) I can hope to accomplish at this point. Maybe one day with the help of this I'll be able to do more. .... Ah, not today though.

Cheers!

Someone will be over later this week to confiscate your Fenders and replace them with a Gibson Robot and a broken Heathkit amp.

I have a blue, green and amber along with my original red.
I let the listeners pick which I should use..most like the blue (which can look white at certain angles).

I'm looking for replacements for my Marshall.

Shhhh! Bluesky636 will hear you and send the amp police to confiscate your jewels.

All kidding aside, I think it's rather cool that you let your audience pick the color. No doubt this brings them closer to your performance even before you play a single note. If you don't mind my asking, for which amp or amps do you have the various jewels lights and where did you get them.

Thanks & Cheers!

WWW.Musicpartsguru.com They can get you any part for any Fender amp. I just ordered a set of pots yesterday for my Fender Champion 30 from them . They have a direct contact with Fender .

You may be right, tyronne.

Although I can say with utmost certainty that the jewel for the HRD is different from that for the Champion 600, upon further attempts to put the square peg in the round hole I discovered that the Chamption 600 jewel will fit in the HRD but the HRD jewel will not fit properly on the Chamption 600. It "fits" but the threads only grab about 1 turn or so and the jewel doesn't seat all the way down.

I wrote to Fender Consummer Relations requesting the part numbers for a blue jewel light for each of my three Fender amps and they sent back a single part number which suggests that one size does fit all and that all Fender jewels a interchangeable.

    Part Number: 0990949000
Product Description: 1 Blue Amplifier Jewel

Cheers!

Amp = DRRI

If I remember I just went to Ebay and found plenty of suppliers. Picked one that had them in stock and came with free shipping. I used "jewel lights for amp" as a search and up popped a few.

best of luck!
