Hey all, I have a MIM Strat H-S-S, and I was thinking about getting the humbucker replaced with a Seymour Duncan JB (SH-04 I believe), and my question is, would it be worth it? Would it sound significantly better than the stock one?

Thanks

I guess that all depends on what you're looking for and what you don't like about the stock humbucker. I can tell you that I have a JB in one of my Strats and I love it. It is very versatile and delivers a great balanced tone whether I am playing clean or dirty. If you like a little more thump in the bass department I might also check out the Custom 5. What kind of music do you generally play. Where do you feel that the stock humbucker is lacking? Have you checked out the sound sample chart on the Seymour Duncan web site?

It'll scream better with the Seymour Duncan. Those pickups are usually a bit hotter than the stock Fender humbucker.

I play mostly metal and punk (and more for metal, this summer I plan on getting a guitar with active pickups). I also play alternative, classic, and hard rock, and a little bit of blues. With the stock it sounds really thin to me, and it seems to pick up some unwanted noises. Yeah I was looking at that a little bit yesterday. I was listening to the Custom 5, and that bass sounds nice, but since I play lead in my band, I think I would probably go with the JB.
