I don't use any of that fancy crap. A few spritzes of Pledge works just fine.

I've used orange glo a few times. For the fretbaord the most common recommendation is lemon oil.

Dunlop 65 for the body and the back of the neck, Gerlitz Guitar Honey for the rosewood fretboards.

I just wipe down the body with the cloth that I use for lemon oiling the fretboard it gets a little lemon oil on it, I think it cleans it fairly well

I found a post on Saxontheweb regarding the use of Pledge:

Quote:
Many people on SOTW have recommended Pledge to polish lacquered instruments. On the old forum someone claiming expertise did indeed discuss the ingredients in Pledge, and suggested that it was quite safe to use on such finishes. If if does have any detrimental effects on lacquered instruments, they must be very slow-acting, because I have been using it for years, and the results have been great. I have never seen a single post that claimed otherwise. Given the tendency for SOTWers to argue about nearly anything, the lack of bad press for Pledge is telling.

If there is anyone here that can give a good viable reason why one shouldn't use Pledge as a cleaner/polish for their favorite strat or tele, I'd like to hear it?

It can't possibly be any worse than putting something like Fast Fret on your strings... yuk!

It's already been said, but I use lemone oil on my fretboard. I also have heard good things about the Dunlop products.

I hate that fast fret stuff it made my strings all sticky so I had to throw them out along with the fast fret.
For oiling the fretboard I used to use mineral oil that my granddad got for constipation a long time ago. It worked ok but I find that lemon oil works much better.

Finish 2001, made by Turtle wax. It's good for shining your electrics. I wouldn't advise using it on Nitrocellulose finishes, 'cause I've never owned a Nitrocellulose finish. any NON ABRASIVE polymer based car polish, like McGuire's or 2001 does a good job on modern Electric Guitar Finishes. I've used it a couple times on my newest Acoustic with good results, I'll let you know if it starts to mess it up.
