Well they're about as different as you can get, nevermind the fact that this thread has been done before.

But if you're asking for our personal opinions.. I'd take an SG reissue (the one with P90s) over a telecaster, but a telecaster over a SG standard.

Ditto. An SG with P90's is one hell of a guitar.

Personally, I don't care for SGs. They're too fragile. Hit someone with an SG, and you'll be picking up pieces of SG if you're lucky. Hit 'em with a Tele, and you'll probably go to jail. Of course, I'm JUST KIDDING! I think the Tele is the 'Swiss Knife' of guitars. The SG isn't to me.

It's that short neck tenon on the SG.

Yes, that too. My point is that I never found SGs very versatile. Teles definitely are to me.

I agree with you if you're talking about the SG with humbuckers. Have you played an SG with P90s? Much more versitile. Classic late 60's early 70's blues rock tone

I don't like the way Teles feel, and I like how SG's feel--thus my vote.

But I've heard some great stuff played on each of them.

I'm actually the opposite in feel. I prefer the feel of a tele.
