Is there a way we not use jargon, Slang, or homemade abbreviations without explanation?
It must be extreamly frustrating when you have no idea what people are talking about... I speak English (my only laguage) but I imagine it's prettyy frustrating to the non-english speaking people as well....
I propose that if these are used they be explained once in every post issued; that way everybody is literally on the same page and those who aren't familiar with them can better understand what is being said

WTF, LOL!! IMHO FMIC RAWKS!! :) RHCP, EC, and SRV think so, Even though EC's Beano sound was on an Orville. BTW OT AHDGALO PSWBATDAWGASAT (Translation-By the way, On Topic, abreviations have gone a little overboard. Pretty soon we'll be able to do away with Grammar and Spelling all together)

I got two theories.

1. The Fender Headstock Looks Like an Axe Head

2. Before the Lumber Industry was Mechanized, Lumberjacks would have thier own Axe to cut Lumber with. Guitarist play better on thier own Guitar, or, "You can't cut as much wood with a strange Axe."

FirstMeasure, thanks for clearing that up. I stopped playing for so long I lost touch with all the jargon.

Actually, horn players called their instrument an "axe" long before guitar players did.

Really?? You don't see Stephen Foster calling his tool of the trade an Axe?

My guess would be that it has something to do with the Swing era. Something like: "he can really swing that axe" or " dig that swingin axe"

I like the swing era, so I'm going with that one.
