First, no problem gettin' you quotin'. ;)

The Ramones - just one of the best punk rock bands of all times (along with the Sex Pistols).

Ya know: 'Rock, rock, rock'n'roll high school' and 'I wanna be sedated". :D

I agree with: Rush, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd. As I said, too many with too many uniquenesses to nominate just one. Can't eat just one.

Tough choice, I kinda forgot about Glenn Miller. I love that Clarinet, though. I'll have to stick with Benny.

Glenn Miller Orchestra, Johann Strauss waltzes, good music is good music no matter the era in which it was composed. Bach does some jamming solos (with moving bass lines) on organ that would rival any guitarist or pianist today!

Any musician would be elevated in their compositions by listening to and learning from other eras and cultures.

Mozart and Vivaldi's smooth lead lines are good food for the ear, and Tchicovski could be considered the first Speed Metal Composer.

Who can rival Mozart!? And Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky. These guys ate music for breakfast. Although Yngwie focused on the Baroque/Classical masters, that doesn't preclude masters of any styles. Believe it or not, I love that haunting hollow flute sound of Japanese origin - like Ian Anderson might have too? :)

The hard part, if you aren't attempting to transcribe a piece to electric guitar, is absorbing the styles and utilizing them in new ways. Can't say that I'm anywhere near doing this myself - don't compose my own stuff for the most part. Basically, when inspiration evades you, listen to something different and it may change your mind (literally).

You mean to say that you never heard of one of the most important rock bands in modern music?
They were a New York band who formed in 1974, and created a new genre of music called punk rock. This music has proved inspirational to numerous bands, some of which include, Black Flag, metallica, misfits, U2, chilli peppers, nirvana, pearl jam, to mention just a few who have cited the Ramones as major influences upon their musical careers. The Ramones finally broke up in 1996. They were constantly on tour, nearly 3,000 shows, and about 20lps. The Ramones always remained true to their musical roots and never deviated from their sound, despite any particular fashion or fade. Unfortunatly, 3 of the original members have passed away. The ramones were inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of Fame in 2000.

truely Rock n Roll legends

It all makes sense now. Fender Strat doesn't know who the Ramones are because he's too busy posting on here 100 times a day. That coupled with him listening to Korn and Limp Bizkit all day allow no extra time to study up on the history of real rock -n- roll.
