Hello folks.

I am almost on my year anniversary of being on this forum. Being new to playing my telecaster, I feel I have made lots of friends on this forum. I am in my 40's so my other priorities are family time and of course work. Now that my playing has improved a little bit, I have been wanting to jam with other musicians. It is real hard to find the time for that, but perhaps maybe one time out of the week for a few hours.

Yesterday at my new job. . . . I heard two guys talking in the break room. Both of them were talking about guitar. I decided to join in on the conversation and asked the one of the guys what he played . . . He stated he had a Fender Telecaster and Stratocaster. My eyes lit up and I told him that I have a Telecaster and proceeded to ask him about this "Fender Forum" . . . . He said he did not know.

I was happy to meet two new friends at my new job who like to play guitar. It is great to meet like minded induviduals. It was like we had a great connection....Similar to that of the Harley Davidson brotherhood . . . . which is similar that of Fender .

I love the support and friendship on this message board . . . but it is great to meet people in person too!

Reno, Once you have entered into a brethren it makes no difference what it is. Hunting,Fishing,Music,Hot Rods or bikes. It's the common interest thing that makes conversation come easy. glad to see that your enjoying the comradery side of music. "Rock The Talk".

something like that happened to me back in the 90s . meta guy at work that played drums . anyhow they had a 3 piece band .. i got invited over.. so i said do you have a tape of what you do. i got one from him went over the next week.

turns out they had a weak bass player. anyhow unintentionally i ended up being there bass player for 6 years. the other guy just never showed up anymore.

i wasnt looking to do that just to sit in for a ight. anyhow after the band broke up i remained friends with the drummer and we got together for years afterward..

i ended up on guitar .. so who knows what could happen..

i'd like to echo the words of Mr. Danny Duke if i may and elaborate.
in my part of the world its not really just a "harley" thing although harley owners do have a unique bond it seems. its more of a "motorcycle" thing. there seems to be a common respect of those of us who commute on 2 wheels. i know i feel this way. anyone who rides knows what i mean. we acknowledge this when we meet on the roadways. its a cool thing.
i think guitar players somehow recognize other guitar players too. cool thing.

I've got three brotherhoods working for me....

Having been a professional fire fighter, now retired I run with a volunteer company in my home town.....(that's one brotherhood)

I've been a motorcycle rider since the early 1980's, my last two bikes being Harley's, presently riding a 2003 Fat Boy.....(that's another brotherhood)

I'm also the co-founder and Road Capt. for Red Knights NJ Chapter #23 Atlantic City which combines those two brotherhoods....

And of course I'm a guitar player, more specifically a Fender guitar player, and I have met many new friends through our love of guitars and music.....

it's all good......

----Danny,

Thanks Danny and all others who responded. I truly enjoy logging on to the Fender site. Most posts here are respectful. It seems like family where people can post thier triumphs/failures with out being judged. I have seen lots of positive response.

As much as my guitar playing improves with time, I will give the same advice and kind repsonce as other people on this forum have gave me.

Only to pass the torch and keep the "Fender Brotherhood" alive.

Hello reno2atlanta, I agree with you and everyone that music is magnetic and draws Brothers and Sisters together. All of the bikers that I have met have a mutual respect for other bikers, Harley riders are particular about that, cool observation 8) Very cool TonyMig, you Bros must have fun :D
And I agree about the Fender Forum as well. I have learned so many, what seemed to me like technical secrets from everyone here that I keep coming back :D well that and the guitar porn, socks porn, amp porn, music porn  this is one naughty site
