I recently acquired a 1985 Concert II (1x12).... It's an absolutely amazing amp. I have no problems with it other than the fact that I tried plugging a second cable into input 2 while I had my instrument plugged into input 1. The amp simply died and wouldn't power up until the next day. I was freaked out, because this shouldn't happen, and my amp tech thought this shouldn't have happened. I haven't done it again since.

Has anyone had the same problem, or is this clearly an issue with my amp that I have to resolve. And if this is the case, does anyone have a sense (guess) of what the problem might be?

Thanks very much in advance!

Nick

Your tech is right , this should not be append . Plug cable in the two input should not switchOFF the amp. Or it have something wrong in the amp close to inputs jack doing a short with 2 input in use.

A look inside the amp will resolve the problem.

Remove chassis from the cab and look close to the inut jacks , if not sure if something wrong , send us clue-ip photos.

I'm new to this forum and don't see anywhere how I can post a picture... I just snapped 3 pics of the inside of the input jacks. If someone can please help, I'd appreciate it. I could also send the pics to an email address of a user that thinks they can tell what the problem is by just visual inspection. To me, I don't see anything obvious.

Thanks,
Nick

OK.... I took the risk and plugged into both inputs... No problem now, but I'm still wondering why it shorted out the first time I did this a couple weeks ago.

Or you touch power switch ...... ???

For photos

I own an '84 Concert II (2x10 Model) and this most certainly should NOT happen. I suspect you may have a loose input connector. By the way, I plugged two guitars into both my inputs and both worked...although the clean channel was quieter volume wise.

I even went through my instruction manual just to make sure I hadn't forgotten something or some wierd trick like this, but nothing.

Have your amp tech check it out.

T2, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated... I will have my amp tech take a look, he's a wizard on tube, and SS amps for that matter.

The input jacks look fine to me, but can't really tell if they are loose. Try a little Deoxit on them, if that don't clear it up, do take it to your tech.

Am I missing anything here guys?

I think that problem is in powering part. I had slightly the same problem with my twin reverb last month. But not like you it turned off when I'm just playing. I take it to my tech and the problem was the power cables inside. They loosen up and he fix.

Hope it is not a major problem.
