To all you fellow newbies out there... I'd like to share two bits of wisdom that I've learned and think is important:

#1: the "description" (i.e. "hobbyist" or "amateur") under an authors name and the number of guitar picks shown is NOT an indication of the author's actual skill or experience... it refers only to the number of posts that person has made. Thus, there are people who have high rankings that aren't professionals, and there are professionals with lower rankings because they don't post as much or are new to the forum.

#2: DON'T trust every bit of advice that you get. You may hear "You've gotta get this pickup or that bridge or these strings suck" or whatever. Consider the source before you take any of this advice to heart. If you've recieved advice and are unsure of the reliability of the source... click on the author's name, and then click on "Find all posts by...". You may find that the person who is giving you advice today couldn't figure out how to open their guitar case yesterday.

Hope that helps... 8)

And THAT is exactly why I don't need to look at your prior posts anymore to know that you're the "go-to guy" for advice.

Seriously, your responses to my posts and others have taught me much.

Thanks Chet!!! Everybody raise a glass and toast to Chet. (Oh wait... that drinking thing was a different thread.)

great point ziggy, all of us no matter how much of a begginer guitar player you are has somthing to offer. We each give our opnion based on our own personal experiences, and each opnion is as different as each individuals experiences. We can all talk till we are blue in the face about who is the greatest guitar player, and what is the best guitar or amp, but to each his own, each idea works good for the person using it,and we can all get something from that....we should all open our minds adn learn from eachother

You have a good point. Never take any post as "God's truth". I just read it all, average it out and use what I think I can.

Oh yeah.....CA-Feathers-I tried that guitar honey and love it. Thanks for the info! See? Some good can come of this forum.

I just keep my cases open because I can't figure out how to close them. It's a real pain because I keep dropping my guitars whenever I pick up the case to go out.
