No need to apologize, as what you're observing is being observed by many others as well, myself included. I don't think an age limit is the solution, though. I truly think the forums are still young enough that they've not really developed a definitive "voice" and that's showing when it comes to stuff like this. I'm hoping that quality discussion that we're all looking for here will come with time as folks get to know each other better. Think about it -- there's a big difference having a chat with a complete stranger versus a good friend! I think we'll get there with time.

I'm out of here. Out of this post anyway. One final shout out to Fender Strat, you made a crack which read "I dont think you should be here because your not american?"
There are many folks all over the world who love Fender and have just as much right to be here as you. Please refrain from making such comments in the future.

Hey some of us older guys ( I will be 42 this Friday ) need to keep in mind that our kids are so hung up on games and cell phones that fewer and fewer are taking the time to learn music at all.

we need to get as many youngsters involved as we can to keep music as we know it alive and thriving.

yes I cringe when I see another maple or R/W thread too, however these guys and gals are just trying to get their sea legs if you will and find out why we like what we like.

we need to help them form opinions and introduce them to music they might never hear otherwise.

its time for some of us to step up and mentor these people and not beat them down so as to avoid being bothered by simple quests for information.

as for the folks who need perfection in spelling and punctuation, well good luck with that and lighten up !!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, just like in my backyard, there are turds in the grass. It's unavoidable. Sure you can clean them up,but the turds will be back the next day. It's just a matter of not letting them get so plentiful as to stink up the whole yard.

Whatever guy, you have absolutely no idea how many youngsters I help on a regular basis, be it music, surfing or teaching kids how to draw and paint. I've given "Fender Strat" sound advice and yes I have corrected him on his spelling. That said, I'll lighten up now.

I agree that some people on this site can be immature (not pointing any fingers), but I'm not sure an age limit is the right thing. Some grownups act stupid and some kids can hang out with adults with no problem. As for me, I'm 14 years of age and I find this site a great tool for intelligent discussion about guitars and music in general because most of my musician friends at school do nothing but fool around. I have no problem with goofing off when I play, but it's hard to really feel the music when you are talking about God knows what. I wish we could install a maturity test or something, but for now, I will try to ignore the lame posts.

and sometimes Young folks just try too hard to be a part of the group.

we all need to relax a bit and do our best to help each other.

this forum isnt a race to see how many posts we can make either and taking time to make shure we have someting usefull to say would be a benefit to us all.

My vote would be not to add age limits. We all enjoy the love of guitars especially Fender guitars. If a youngster has a yearning to socialize with peolpe with similar interests who are we to say he/she can't. I feel strongly the community as a whole needs to provide guidance to what is acceptable to us. If somebody strays then it is our responsibility to bring them back in line with what is acceptable to the community as a whole. We were all young once and had to be knocked down a step or two as we learned what was acceptable. Just my opinion.
