We have talked on here in great legths about who will carrie the torch of Hendrix and SRV, and there is much debate about it, and when the whole hendrix to srv to mayer thread was hot and heavy the one guy, my self included, we have forgot all about is Doyle Bramhall II, I was on my way to work this mornin, and the Arc Angels came on the radio, and man I forget sometimes how good he really is!! I need to spend more time studying him, He toured with clapton, in his band, and he just needs to be considered when we talk about passing the torch

First time I saw/heard Doyle was on the Clapton Crossroads dvd a few months back. Really liked his playing, not over the top, just a good vibe.
But is it just me or does he play with the high e at the top, not the bottom?

Nathan

Doyle is awesome. Saw him playing with Clapton when they came through my area. And his set on Crossroads is really good. Definitely a guitarist who should get more publicity.

Doyle Bramhall II is a decent player. His days with ARC Angels along with Charlie Sexton, Chris Layton, and Tommy Shannon. were quite interesting.
Doyle has gone on to play in Eric Clapton's touring band.

For those that don't know. Tommy Shannon (Bass) and Chris Layton (Drums) were Stevie Ray Vaughan's band Double Trouble.

i must disagree with him only being decent, i would say he blows kenny wayne sheppard, and john mayer out of the water, and i would put him up there with guys like warren hayes of gov't mule

I refrain from using terms such as "great" when talking about guitar players. Doyle does out play a lot of other guitarist (including the ones you mentioned)
When Doyle reaches what I consider to be an excellent guitar player he will be in the company of Jimi and SRV.
