I suppose I'd pay that much if I happened to be rich. It wouldn't be the Stones', though. I'd pay a nice penny for:

Van Halen with both Sammy and Dave
KISS..Gene, Paul, Peter, Ace(saw them in '96, definately worth it)
Adam and the Ants original band
Weather Report with Tal Wilkenfield sitting in for Jaco
Metallica with both Dave Mustain and Kirk Hammett, Jason Newstead on bass
Alabama reunion
Squeeze full scale reunion
Creedence Clearwater Revival reunion of remaining members

The $650 is probably VIP seats that include a bunch of stuff like CD packs, blah blah blah. People pay thousands of dollars for sporting events where your team might LOSE. Now that'd suck! If it's a once in a lifetime thing then I'd laugh at $650. My wife gave me a surprise birthday a few years back, we flew out to Pebble Beach for the Concours. $150 per person to get in and I'd do it again in a happy heartbeat. You're thinking "spoiled rich guy". Wrong. Guy who lives a very simple life with a few exceptions - like Pebble beach or a Stones concert. Worth every stinkin' bit. Don't like them, don't go, if enough people DON'T go (highly unlikely) then those high price tickets start dropping. I saw them 3 times on the Bigger Bang tour, total of $410 for 3 tickets. Then to put everything in perspective, Lady Gaga's tour requires 90 semi's to haul. NINETY. Just sayin'....

I was listening to an interview with a Rolling Stones biographer on CBC Radio a while back and he cited the vast differences between Richards and Jagger.Contrary to the persona he exhibits,Richards is very cerebral and a bona fide bookworm with a photographic memory that grabs and retains information like a beartrap. He has riders on every tour that his hotel room be stocked with largely non-fiction literature relating to the place they are playing and by authors from that area.Jagger's room looks more like a stockbrokers office with financial printouts and up to the minute information of their financial standings and business dealings-he's strictly all business. It's obvious that Jagger et al are putting the money before the music these days, all one has to do is listen to the lame attempts at songwriting they've been releasing over the past couple of decades at least and even longer as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think I'd pay half of that for any concert. The last time I saw the Stones (Bigger Bang tour) I paid $100 a ticket in 9th row. I ordered the tickets online and I thought it was a mistake. I was waiting for them to tell me that there was something wrong with the order and my seats were elsewhere.

At $650 a pop, if you go with your significan other, youll end up paying $1300! Thats more than my mortgage each month!

$650 to see the Stones? Good God... That might include limo service to the show, dinner/drinks and backstage access afterwards. No way in hell would I pay that amount!

I saw the Stones in 2005 (Bigger Bang Tour - University of Virginia, Charlottesville) and tickets were $75 bucks a pop. Me, my wife and my sister & brother-in-law were all sitting way up in the nosebleed section of UVA's Scott Stadium. The Stones rocked the football stadium big time, but all I have to say is, thank God for the huge diamond-vision projection screens!

It's not so much the price of the ticket as it is your ability to pay for it.

----Danny,

It's not so much the price they can charge as it is their ability to not charge so damn much.

So much for the creation of 'false gods'. They are raised to the heights by us alone.

$650 for a ticket? You can buy an instrument or two for that and play your own music. Or buy a bunch of concert DVDs or CDs. That's too rich for my blood, I'd say.

This morning while listening to Little Steven's Underground Garage on Sirius Satellite Radio, they announced that the Stones are charging $650 a ticket for their upcoming tour and that all seats have been sold out in advance.

Here in London some people have already been paying a helluvalot more even than the face price for those tickets on the black market. And then today it was announced that this very evening the Stones are doing a warm-up gig in a small 300 capacity venue in Paris: tickets went on sale this morning at £12 / $20 each.

There's a lot of people pretty unamused right now at that disparity in ticket pricing...

Cheers - C
