Clapton's got the Crossroads Center ready for them when they hit bottom, if they make it.

I think it's fine if they don't use drugs. Don't know anyone who only likes bands that do drugs. I'm pretty sure no one here thinks drugs are mandatory for rock n roll. But I gotta tell ya, they've had a whole lot to do with it......and a lot of that was very good as well as horribly bad. Playng devils advocate, there would have been no Sgt. Pepper. No Stairway to Heaven. No Dark Side of the Moon. No Physical Graffiti. No Purple Haze. No Smells like Teen Spirit.

As long as they are not directly hurting others, who cares? As for being role models... parents need to get off of their buts, not be so concerned about driving a new Audi, and spend time and energy raising their kids. The drugged out rock star has his own issues to deal with without thinking about whether Joe Blow from Wherever, USA is addicted to meth or not. Our society has taught us to blame everybody but ourselves.

I totally agree. Drugs have been around befor musicians, they'll be around after musicians. Why have there been several topics recently on this subject? People have the freedom of choice to live how they want to live, and I don't like it when people try to force me to change my life due to something they don't agree with. If you don't like it and don't do it, fine. If you want to start your own little club, fine. But let people make their own choices. Thats part of what is annoying about todays society is people trying to make choices for other people, when they are more than capable of making their own choices.

Drugs are in every culture, and when their abused we all know the affects of them. The musicians that use them either stay in control or wind up in Clapton`s rehab center. When you pay to see a band in concert and they can`t stand up to perform, that would get anyone mad so its up to them to get a grip on it.

some musicians, have a bad mental, just like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix (sorry) they don't have any preparation to be a legend...

Hendrix could feel the music without dropping acid, Kurt was medicating his stomach pains (as he claimed) I agree with the earlier statement; it is up to parents to teach their kids, not musicians. That being said there is some responsibility for those that kids look up to in setting some kind of example.

It seems that rehabbed musicians are the new wave.

Former organic chemistry major here...the stuff which goes into illegal (and some legal) is way too effing scary and the quality control by people who sell on the street...

...use your imagination on what could go awry. And then remember you have one body, brain and life.

Occasionally a beer when playing.
