Well, it seems as though the same thread gets done twice a day on many occasions, so i thought i'd compile a list of things that a new member probably should look into before making new threads

- It's nice you joined the forum... we have a nice community going here, but every person who joins doesn't have to make their own thread to say hello... it's friendly, but clutters up the board from actual discussion... introduce yourself here http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... .php?t=158

- PLEASE DO A SEARCH before making a thread... the search option is near the top of the page between "usergroups" and "FAQs".. it can also be located here http://www.fender.com/community/forums/search.php

- Although you may feel compelled to compare numerous, completely unrelated things, can we keep the VS. threads to a minimum? i can understand logical arguments which serve a purpose, but comparing two completely unrelated bands for example doesn't make sense... its like asking which is better, toast or a swimming poll?

- We all came here for a reason, that is because of Fender guitars and the company that sells them. Making polls on a fender site comparing fender to something else is stupid, obviously fender will win since 99.9% of people here own and play fender gear.

- Can we limit the "what is the best guitarist/guitar/band" thread.... this is all completely subjective and done to death... do a search and see what other people say, don't make the thread again... obviously a guitar with EMGs isn't as suited for blues like a strat is, its all from a point of view

- Stop asking when it will be open 24/7... we don't know, but we will whenever brad and the admin feel it is a suitable time.. it has been discussed numerous times so search and you shall find what you seek

if anyone else wants to add anything, go right ahead... if you feel i'm just speaking for myself and not the community, tell me.. these are just my views, but i think if the majority of the community followed them even somewhat, there would be a lot less clutter and spam

EDIT: I AM NOT saying all new members will by any means do any of these. The great majority of you have enough common sense to do things like this, but I feel it will at least help make less clutter.

I'm not counting on it. Seems a lot of people don't even read the name of the thread their posting to. They just post in response to the previous post.

Heh, can't avoid doing that right now, but it's so true!!
Something weird happened some weeks ago, I don't know when or what, but things changed on this board

I hope we can have something like Citizenerased's post as a 'Sticky Post', always blinking or something, might increase chances a bit

I agree! It seems that lately the Forum has gotten cluttered up with "What's better, Fender or Ibanez?" or "Whose better, EVH or SRV?" threads that are completely ridiculous. It seems to get worse everyday...

Another tip is that, when quoting, you can just hit the quote button on the top of the post, and vwahlla, it opens up a reply box with the quote already there for you
