Just checked out "Gotsta Get Paid" and really enjoyed it. What an awesome tone - it's crunchy and dirty in just the right ways.

....and those guitars are strung w/ 8's, I'm given to understand.

I thought is was 7's...

I've been listening to this album everyday since it came out, and it's probably one of my all time favourites. "Heartache in Blue" has got to be my favourite song on the CD, with "Over You" as a close second.

Great review!

I've been bugging a friend of mine who owns an extensive collection of vinyl to dig up The Moving Sidewalks LP he has buried somewhere. Considering I've been asking about it for a year, I don't know if he'll ever find it. Until then, youtube will have to do.

I agree about La Futura, it's a great album. I've been listening to it all lot lately. :)

Rollie, I see what you did there--you worked three ZZ Top song titles into your post, and seeminglywithout breaking a sweat!

"Pretty Head" from Rhythmeen, "Girl in a T-Shirt" and "Fuzzbox Voodoo" from Antenna...

...and you didn't think I noticed?

Matt, I was glad that you posted their new song, I'm growing my beard for a side project zz tribute. It will take awhile, I'll post a pic after the holidays if some family member doesn't shave it off when I'm napping

I finally got it last week, and really like it. A couple of times, I could hear Rev Billy going back to 'old' riffs, and I'm sure Rubin pushed them more.

I was playing it while driving to the store, my honey enjoyed it.

Got it... LOVE it.. !!

Always a ZZ Fan and they've done a remarkable job of progressing, while at the same time keeping that old ZZ Top flavor !!

I think it's much better than the new stuff the Rolling Stones have released.

Billy and Dusty seem to have lots of creativity left in the Well... Here's hoping hope they make more.. !!

cheers!

If there is a Best Buy store in your area, that's where to find the CD with the two bonus tracks...it's a Best Buy exclusive. The second bonus track ("Drive-By Lover") is killer--Dusty beltin' and howlin' out about his casual hookup, sounds a bit like the "El Loco" days. The first bonus track ain't chopped liver, either, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the songs where Dusty sings lead...

If there's not a Best Buy in your area, they might sell it on the Best Buy website...I'm not sure and too lazy to look it up for you.

Yesterday, while watching the Buckeyes kick butt, I put 'La Futura' in Tascam CD1 and played with it. The mix and engineering by Rubin is great IMO. Listening with headphones I could hear the basic 'live' tracks, and the overdubs.

I had fun playing with tracks, and learnt 'Get Over You' (key of 'A') in a couple of listens.
