I do! I do!

I have only one, my '04 Highway 1, but I want another with a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position.

Here's a cut 'n paste photo of the new American Special Tele from Guitar Center...

The Texas Special pups, the feel of the neck, the tone from it, etc...etc... I swear, it spoke to me! 8)

Every Fender enthusiast should own a strat and tele. Just like every Ford guy should own a mustang and a F150. Two iconic guitars capable of different tones that sets them apart. I can't even believe you're asking such a question!

1 Stratocaster, 1 Telecaster, 1 Mustang (351W, 5.8L), 1 F150 (5.4L)... I'm good. 8)

My latest GAS attack got me buying a Baja Telecaster which has the usual stock size 10 strings on it. Now I have been a 9's man for years but this guitar sounds so good I don't want to change the strings, so I might have been converted back to 10's.
It's a simple and nice little problem to have and it prompts the question:-

What gauge strings do you use on your Tele?

I used to be a 10's guy. Switched to 11's on my Tele awhile ago... now the Strat's got 'em too.
Fatter strings=fatter tone as far as my ears go. I'm getting progressively fatter with age too, so I thought my guitars should follow suit.

I've owned both, and have always ended up selling my Stratocasters. I don't need the trem, and blocking it wouldn't feel right to me. I want a real hardtail.

My signature photo pretty much explains it.....

As someone else pointed out earlier in this thread, the only problem with owning both is deciding which one to pick up and play.....

As for the string size discussion....I've been a #10 player for years, just ordered a few sets of #11's that I plan to try on my Tele first, see how I like them on there before trying them on my Strat......

Get the Tele and enjoy it, just don't forget your Strat.....

I own a bunch of Teles and a bunch of Strats. Today, at GC there was a used FSR Tele hanging there - cherry burst, solid ash, Texas Special pickups, maple neck, still had the protective film on the pearloid pickguard! I took it down, played it and bought it for $350 out the door. Though I own a lot of Teles, I think this one is my first in solid ash... and I know it's the first one with Texas Special pups in it. Fun.

It's this one - currently available through MF for $599...

Butch for years I was strictly a strat guy. I'd ocassionally played friends Tele's but always stuck to my tried and true......then one afternoon six years ago the lightning bolt hit. I was at my local music emporium and zap this American Ash series Tele kept winking at me and smiling and you know coming on to me (wink wink nudge nudge) Well it was sex at first sight and I enjoyed it so much I took her home with me and we've been happily married ever since. (fortunately she doesn't get jealous when I pick up one of my other lovelies, and is slowly making her way into the can't live without category). This excursion into umbridled Telesex even convinced me to pick up another one two years ago...(makes me feel like I`m a Mormon or a Saudi prince with a harem)..so to answer your question yes you can own a strat (or two) and a tele (or two) at the same time and love them equally.....wow look at that Les Paul Special with the P90`s..................

IMO, the Telecaster is the perfect electric guitar. I Love my Strat, too, but if I could only keep one I'd choose the Tele.

Honestly, I used to feel that way. Truly. The Tele definitely has something the Strat just can't offer. Then I bought the Kinman K9 switch for one of my Strats and it includes a Tele-like tone and now, if push really came to shove I think I'd keep THAT Strat. Not my other Strats, THAT Strat. It's not a perfect Tele substitute but it's a very good reasonable facsimile while still being a perfect Strat in other positions. I highly recommend it as an experiment for Strat owners wishing to learn just a little about the Tele universe without the expense of actually buying a Tele. It's just a little taste of the Tele universe, mind you, not a complete experience but it might whet the appetites of some of our Strat-only brethren.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
