Is there a size limit to an initial post on a new topic?

P.S.: Screamin, you can't just edit the thread title willy-nilly, that makes slow farts like me look silly. :D

I don't know about intial posts but I do know there's a limit to the size of post you can go back and edit afterward. I made a post for the forum acronyms in the thread that Monalst started some months back and eventually my post got large enough from adding new stuff that eventually the site would no longer save the changes. It would let me enter the edit mode and make any changes I saw fit to make but it would not allow me to "submit". Perhaps there is just a general size limit for posts?

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Space is the issue. That's why most online forums don't host photographs. You have to use the link for whatever site you upload the photos to. The size limit to a post has to do with the amount of data in the message... Too much data... post won't post.
Ever notice that sites like Photobucket or Picturetrail only allow so many photos in an album before you have to start another one?
Same thing.

I don't know the reasons why, but I had a topic/thread that was near and dear to my heart back in '08 that has gone into hiding somewhere. :?

Music, Cancer and Chemotherapy.

Hi Frankie: yikes, do you know the limit on Photobucket? I notice I currently have 2093 photos in my main album on that site. Am I about to run into trouble?

BTW: I notice beside the posting box on this Forum it says a message may contain no more than 60,000 characters. Cripes, we've got some windy swine on this website (including me especially), but 60,000 characters would be an amazingly lo-o-o-o-o-o-ong post! I doubt that was the problem Screamin' A was running into.

Cheers - C

I've been wrong before.
I mentioned the photo thing (being a Picturetrailer) only because I was made to start a new album because the site told me I couldn't upload any more pics in one of my albums... nowhere near as many as you have on your main album.

I had the crazy idea awhile ago of taking the line from "The Shining" and posting it on another forum...
"All work and no play makes Frankie A dull boy."
I copied and pasted it a bunch of times, copied and pasted the batch a bunch of times, and continued to do so (exponentially) for a few minutes.
Tried to paste the finished product onto a forum post and was warned of a size limit.
I heard from the moderator via e-mail... he was nice about it :)

I'm ok now...

I once had an issue where I uploaded too many pictures to Photobucket within a single month and they automatically suspended my service for a few days to try and encourage me to upgrade to their "professional" fee paying account. However, I refused and the free service came back again at the end of the calander month.

Hahaha - well, these things keep us off the streets, so it's all good in the end! :D
