A friend and his wife sent me a birthday present UPS, much to my surprize last Tuesday. My buddy who had sold me his 78 P Bass back in the mid 80s, always sends me emails with guitar reviews and such. He had asked me a while back about the Peavey JF-1. After reading up on it and, checking out pictures closely, I told him I liked it. He had asked me about this model probably close to a year ago or, maybe even more. As things turned out, he wound up buying me one. I need to do my own setup on it but, I have plugged it in and got some pretty warm tones out of it. It has 22 Frets, body is laminate maple, Peavey humbuckers, full binding, jumbo frets, easy playing comfy neck, transparent red poly finish, maple neck with bowtie inlays, set neck, tuneomatic bridge with stopbar, hardware all gold plated, black three ply scratch plate, grover-like tuners (they act very precise so far). I'm sure I've left some details out but, I feel it is safe to say, this is a very good friend! LOL! From the lifestyle we lived in the past, I'm surprized we're still around! Here are some photos I took today of the guitar:

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Peavey guitars - must be why I own about a dozen myself. Yours is a beauty - I may have to do some research on that model!

Seems like a nice alternative to the Gibson/Epiphone 335s.

Good Luck with it !!

cheers!

Thank you all for all the nice positive responses! I lovingly started setting it up tonight with my extremely poor up-close vision! I got some specs from Peavey and, the tech gave me his extention number and, said to call back if I had any other questions. I'm setting it up with Gibson specs because it is like setting up a Les Paul or, a hard tail ES 335. I did the string height and, adjusted the pickup height as well. Both of these were way off! It now plays about 30% better. Tomorrow I'll set the intonation and, check the neck out. I might not have to adjust the neck, it seems pretty good right now! The pickups are now sounding even better than when I first fired it up! I got the volume even on both sides. I will put new strings on also because I noticed even though they do not sound awful, they are thrashed! LOL! I'll scope the neck after that. After about a little over an hour of adjusting not only does it sound great but, the action is like butter now! It was playable before but, it had a spongy feel to it! Thanks again guys!
