Morning Ladies and Gents,

I have finally saved up enough cash to buy myself a decent guitar and have done my online shopping and I like the jaguar range, especially the Johnny Marr ( looks so sexy ) But i cannot find one in stock in Victoria, Australia?

I also like the thinline Jaguar, but also not available in Australia. Every store seems to have the exact same 5-10 Fender strats and teles.

So my question is, is there a Fender display store, or a major stockist where I can sit down for the day, play everything they have and come away with an expensive, but enjoyable guitar to play?

I have gone through the Dealers link in the Fender website and although they all stock Fender, I wouldn't go as far to say they had a whole lot of range.

Actually the support for Australia Fenders is crap at best, the Fender Australia website doesn't even have a link to a forum? I have to go through the American website.

Hey, you're from victoria? Right on!

Alans music store in melbourne used to have a classic jaguars, until my friend bought it. Last time I was there they had a blacktop jag aswell, and a couple of decent teles and strats. I doubt that they would have them anymore as they're closing down.

You can try a couple of albury shops, they have the occasional fender pop up in their stocks. Or you can just order one in, but I'm sure you would like to play it beforehand.

I called Allans's, before and after closing... tempted by their 40-60% off, but both Flemington and Ballarat stores informed me that they only order jaguars in when requested, (I think ballarat had a squire one from memory)

But your right, i want to play through the range before making my decision. A Friend suggested i might have to make a trip interstate, maybe sydney?

What about the alans in bourke street? I've only been to that one, and it's huge. Might wanna have a look in there.
I was in sydney for the first time a couple of weeks ago, not once did I walk in a guitar shop (unfortuaneley), so I cant be of any help to you there.
I took a risk and ordered my blacktop telecaster before I had even played one, and luckily I loved it. You're right though, you should definetley try to play it before hand.

Allans is going to be your best bet, Get in quick as their in administration and will be closing in the coming months, God knows where the fender product will be sold then. Don't expect anything like America though. I don't think i've ever seen a new Jag on a wall here. I'm sure there'll be a couple in Melbourne somewhere but its certainly not going to be more than one or two if your lucky. There's certianly none in Brisbane or the Gold coast. And on the subject of the forum its strange how they try and keep us out huh. unless you stumble across it searching else where the Australian site will not let you in to the forum huh. We cause too much trouble.. Its like keep those damn Aussies out of the forum!!! Good luck with you purchase anyway....

Actually i haven't tried the Bourke street one, ill give it a crack. I've been told Manny's in Prahran have a few, ill try them next.

All i want is a fender megastore! where i can play everything and walk out with the best choice.

Contrary to what you may think, stores in the USA don't have every single guitar that Fender makes either. Like anywhere else, they stock what is popular and sells well in their area and order the rest.

Yes but I'm sure USA has a wider range than Australia, and they're more common.

When alans/billy hydes music shops shut down I fear fenders, along with many other well known brands will begin to become very, very sparse.

Aw well, looks like its back to home-made guitars then!

G'day, I recently found a decent local local music shop with about 30 Fenders and 20 or so Gibsons (new). The trouble is, the price.
I was playing a beautiful Metal bodied Fender Resonator which had a $1100- price tag (marked down from $1300-). Then I went online and found the same guitar in the US for $650- including international postage.
I know it's a risk buying online and I'd like to support local business, but really, I'd have to be a complete idiot to buy the shop guitar.

Goodonyaz ...Mark.
