I've had my Telecaster for about a year now, and it was my first guitar with a maple fretboard. To this day, I have only changed the strings once and have never cleaned it.
So later this week I' going to pick up some new strings and guitar polish, but here's my question, how do you properly care for a maple fretboard? I use lemon oil on my rosewood boards, but I've been told that it can damage maple. What should I use to get all the grime off of it?

Thanks in advance.

I wipe mine down with a Lysol wipe (wrung out)

A damp cloth with a very mild dish washing liquid-with lemon preferably-is all I ever use on maple fretboards. After you use the mild soapy solution wipe off any residue with a damp cloth that has been rinsed in clear water.

Lemon Pledge. It's good for leather also.

Mr Sheen will do fine also.....And changing your strings at least every few months would be advisable....

Barely damp cloth. Nothing else needed. It's the same finish on the fretboard as on the body, so a little spit or water and you're good to go.

+1

If it is really, really bad then Naphtha (Lighter Fluid) will do the job.

Thanks for all the input!
I have some Dunlop Formula 65 guitar polish, would it be okay to put that on the fretboard as well? I've read that several people do this, but others say it can wreck the maple. What do you guys think?
