For Christmas I got my 4 year old son a Les Paul Peewee which comes with a tiny little battery powered amp.. While I was setting it up for him he said, "Turn it up to 11!" I don't know where he got that from.

Unless you have the same or similar guitars and amps that the players you are trying to sound like, their personal settings may not sound as good on or through your gear. Then even if you have all the same gear, there is still no guarantee you'll sound like them, because its a combination of the gear and the player. Just getting all of somebody's gear or settings doesn't mean you will sound like them...Just some food for thought....

Ya know man, there's really no set group of settings for any particular style of music. Each amp is different, guitars differ and just the way you play and attack the strings can make a huge difference. You have to find the settings that work with your amp, your axe, your style of playing.

When I said style of playing I wasn't talking about genre. I was talking about the way you finger notes, hold chords, pick strings. All of these affect tone more then anything else. You can take two guitar players, give them the exact same amps set up the same way and they will be able to sound totally different just by the way they play.

I always like turning the middle all the way down and treble and bass all the way up. Slap on some reverb and set the tone and volume knobs full up on the guitar and try it out
