I guess one can't get into trouble fondling only one's own knobs. :|

you are heading down a dangerous road mona... now every day you'll think
"it just doesn't sound rite" so you tweak the knobs a bit more and more and eventually you decide the amp just doesn't do it for you....... then you get a new one  and then a month later you get a pedal to compensate for what that amp lacks. then a few days later you decide maybe its your pickups. then the tone dominoes start to fall faster and faster

I find myself experimenting with clean tones more than gain.

Staying with just one setting isn't taking full advantage of the tonal and sonic possibilities of your amp.Draw a diagram of your control panel and mark your present settings on it.Do up several diagrams of the control panel and then experiment with different settings and each time you find a good one, mark the control settings on your diagram so you can reference it whenever you want it.

These days many amps come with diagrams of their control panels so that the users can easily access and remember their prefered settings.

It is amazing how much you can change the sound with just small adjustments.
